Visit Makeda & Mingus 8/14-9/6 for my show of my series of vibrant blue ink paintings of scenes in and around Seattle! Each painting was done on location, allowing me to experience and capture the feeling of being in each place. Opening Reception 📅 Friday, August 14 🕰️ 6pm - 9pm 📍 Makeda & Mingus
Last couple of these cherry blossoms for the set! 🌸 next I’ll arrange them into a grid composition for a framed piece 🖼️ #cherryblossoms #watercolor #art
Finally painted the old Elephant Car Wash sign while out with Urban Sketchers Seattle! Very happy with how this came out. #pleinair #watercolor #gouache #urbansketchers #art
A couple more cherry blossom color iterations today. 🌸 Two left to go and I’ve got the color scheme picked out! #watercolor #cherryblossoms #flowerart #art #tradart
Have some more cherry blossoms! 🌸 Think I’ll do four more of these… #watercolor #art #cherryblossoms
Painted Wing Luke Museum today and now my Seattle Museum series is complete! Here is the latest plus a few of my favorites. #watercolor #pleinair #urbansketchers #art #tradart
The penultimate museum in this series of Seattle museum paintings: @fryeartmuseum.bsky.social! It’s a less well known gem that is always FREE! (Plus a few of the others I’ve painted) #art #pleinair #urbansketchers #watercolor #traditionalart
I wrote a new blog post doing a Spring Recap and Summer Look-Ahead for what's going on at Way Lee Art: www.waylee.art/blog/spring-...

Another couple iterations of my cherry blossom color experiments. Still working loosely around pink-green concepts. #watercolor #cherryblossoms #flowerart #art #painting
Painted the Museum of Flight today to continue my Seattle museums series. Weekday = lots of school groups! We’re in the home stretch with just a couple left to paint now. #art #watercolor #pleinair #urbansketchers
The Duwamish Longhouse & Cultural Center is next in the series. It’s a distinctive building with warm textures outside and in. I appreciated the exhibit, including getting to see Duwamish perspective about the collision of incoming Westerners with indigenous people. #art #watercolor #urbansketchers
Museum no. 9! A couple days ago I painted the Jimi Hendrix tribute museum (aka EMP, aka MOPOP), and today I sat in Jimi Hendrix Park and painted the Northwest African American Museum. Just four more museums left in this series. #art #pleinair #watercolor #painting #tradart #urbansketchers
Seattle museums series continues with number 8, MOPOP (EMP)! Hooboy that iridescent glass exterior was difficult. I think I got it to work, though, very differently from how I’d imagined at the start. 🙂✌🏼 #pleinair #watercolor #urbansketchers #landscapeart #architecture #painting #traditionalart
@urbansketchers.bsky.social Seattle chapter hit @seattleartmuseum.bsky.social Olympic Sculpture Park today, along with many of our fellow Seattleites to enjoy the decent weather and beautiful grounds and view of the Sound. #pleinair #watercolor #urbansketchers #tradart #art #painting
Opening reception for Plein Air Views of Washington had a great turnout! Big thanks to friends for coming out, and great to meet a few of the other artists. #artgallery #traditionalart #pleinair #painting #art
@nordicmuseum.org is museum number six! Don’t worry, the troll is still there—I just omitted it and the Moomin banner because I want this series of museum paintings to express the permanent character of the buildings. #watercolor #urbansketchers #art #traditionalart #pleinair
One more from @seattleaquarium.bsky.social! This one is of the coral (apparently artificial in the mega-tank?? For some technical & biological reason I don’t remember now) and (white-)spotted eagle rays in the massive mega-tank in the new Ocean Pavilion. #sciart #art #watercolor #animalart
Last month I visited @seattleaquarium.bsky.social and did quick ink sketches while walking the enclosures, like this Giant Sea Octopus! This sketch I snagged when she started moving around her tank for a bit. (I added watercolor later.) #watercolor #animalart #sciart #octopus #traditionalart #art
Last month I visited @seattleaquarium.bsky.social and did quick ink sketches (and added color later) of the sea creatures while we walked the enclosures, like this Giant Pacific Octopus! 🐙 #art #watercolor #animalart #octopus #traditionalart
Out with Urban Sketchers Seattle today! Decided to play with my colors some more. #art #watercolor #urbansketchers #seattleart #pleinair #painting
The museum series continues with @burkemuseum.bsky.social! Another childhood field trip fave, though now in completely new digs. Fabulous ☀️weather for painting outside. Stay tuned for more! #watercolor #art #seattleart #landscapeart #architectureart #urbansketchers
Lots of #peoplesketching at the event last night. Love the “happy accidents” as Bob Ross called them, that come out of playing 🎨 #sketchbook #traditionalart #art #people
Just dropped off this little bird at Old Stove Brewery Ship Canal (Seattle) for a group show of #birdart opening this Thursday 5/21 5pm-9pm! I’ll also be vending (my non-bird art) at the opening. If you like birds and art, come through! #traditionalart #fineart #humanartist
Just dropped off my “MOHAI” painting at Magnuson Park Gallery for the Plein Air Views of WA 2026 show. Saw lots of fantastic nature paintings from other artists waiting to be hung up for the exhibit. See you at the opening reception at 5pm 5/28! #pleinair #painting #watercolor #traditionalart #art
Just a puffin over here! Playing around with techniques more. I haven’t done a lot of closeup compositions, but I like how this turned out. 👍🏼 #birdart #puffin #traditionalart #watercolor #art
Today @urbansketchers.bsky.social Seattle went back to where it all began in 2009, Fishermen’s Terminal. Decided to play with different watercolor techniques that I plan to use in some aquatic pieces I’m working on. Fun times! #urbansketchers #uskweek2026 #watercolor #pleinair #art #painting
