In SoCal trying to figure out a way to get back to the PacNW

The very tedious return of covid lockdown discourse reminded me of this series of pandemic propaganda posters I made during the 2020 "get back to work" push

GET BACK TO WORK, MAGGOT. THE OLIGARCHY NEEDS YOU.

LA is leaving the house at 5pm for 7pm dinner reservations at a place 15 minutes away and barely making it. As you're being seated you're told there is a 1 hour dining limit, and it is the worst service in the loudest environment.

#SawInTheaterFirstRun Morgan Stewart's Coming Home (dirs. Aaron, Windsor, Smithee, 1987) The first movie where my brother and I were the only people in the theater. Cost $6M Box office $2M . You got a random movie you saw in the theater that feels like a fever dream? Yes I did just qt myself!

The movie poster for Morgan Stewart's Coming Home featuring Jon Cryer bursting through French doors on a scooter with Biveka Davis riding behind him. The both have their legs out, him wearing fun red converse, her sassy boots with a a black and white design (maybe checkerboard? Maybe cow?).

#SawInTheaterFirstRun Rich in Love (dir. Beresford, 1993) I was (am) madly in love with MacLachlan, so of course I saw it! Cost $18M Box office $2M . You got a random movie you saw in the theater that feels like a fever dream?

I rarely log into Facebook but have kept my account to let friends of my mother know her condition. For some reason, my algorithm/feed has become AIDS memorial and gay history and, that's kind of awesome??

Listen. I want to like Mike Leigh movies. I've seen a few. But what's the thing that unlocks him for me? I dislike Naked. I love Topsy-Turvy, and I love Marianne Jean-Baptiste's performance in Secrets & Lies. Someone direct me to some good essays written, spoken, or otherwise?
