Thomas Massie and Mike Rogers are both wrong here. A lot of young people are against Israel for totally valid, not-antisemitic reasons. And also, a growing share of young people do think it’s cool to use antisemitic slurs. But a lot of those are the young people working on the Mike Rogers campaign.

from Thomas Massie: “This is false and dangerous rhetoric from Mike Rogers: “The next generation of kids thinks it’s really cool to be against the Jews.”

No Mike, the next generation and my generation and the generations in between are against funding wars in the Middle East.

Mike and others do a great disservice to Jewish people when they imply that opposition to Netanyahu’s wars is equivalent to antisemitism. ”

It does say something that this rabbi in Kansas is admitting he cares more about what Abdul El-Sayed says in a different state than Donald Trump using an antisemitic slur in his own state. But I'm not sure it says what he thinks it says.

"Many are from liberal or swing states, including Rabbi Samuel Stern of Temple Beth Sholom in Topeka, Kansas, where another close Senate race is unfolding. Stern told JTA he signed in order to call out “the anti-Zionist hatred that we see coming out of different political sides and candidates.”

For the rabbis on the letter, El-Sayed’s rhetoric in Michigan looms large in their states, too — in some cases, larger even than more local antisemitism controversies.

At a recent rally in Kansas, President Donald Trump used the term “Shylock,” widely considered to be an antisemitic slur, when referring to a controversy involving the GOP incumbent senator suing patients with medical debt.

Stern, though, said that his Kansas congregation was generally more concerned about El-Sayed’s rhetoric on Israel several states away than Trump’s remarks closer to home.

“It really didn’t play that much here,” the rabbi said, of Trump’s comment. “I don’t know what that means for us, or for any of the other Jewish communities, but it wasn’t as prevalent here. We’ve heard more about what Dr. El-Sayed has said, his anti-Zionism, and been more concerned about that, than about the offhand comment by President Trump.”"

Emma Lazarus was an advocate for refugees and immigrants, critic of US imperialism, and sympathized with Georgism and the non-Marxist socialism of William Morris. She was vocally opposed to white supremacists. If she were alive today and living in Michigan, she would absolutely be voting El-Sayed.

I will never stop being stunned at the number of people who treat their vote as a precious little piece of performance art. Yes, this would be better than voting for Rogers. It would, however, be worse than behaving like a responsible and decent adult who understands what voting is meant to do.

NYT: A coalition of Michigan Jewish leaders is encouraging voters who do not support either Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for Senate, or Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate, to write in Emma Lazarus, the Jewish poet whose words about welcoming “the huddled masses” are displayed at the Statue of Liberty.

I don’t think there’s a lot of actual evidence that American Jewish voters en masse are about to defect from the Democratic Party tomorrow. But I do think the largely false perception that American Jews are so eager to switch sides because of self-interest is bad for the community.

The claim that George Soros is funding protesters is one of the beliefs that directly inspired the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, the deadliest antisemitic attack in US history. And yet President Trump repeating this lie will get far less attention than what Abdul El-Sayed said.

""They're like a gnat. They're like a little fly."

President Donald Trump brushes off protesters at his rally as the crowd breaks into chants of "USA! USA!"

Trump claims the demonstrators are paid $250 each by George Soros, calling them "losers" before joking that they always manage to interrupt him right in the middle of his punch lines."

For all the talk of how students are becoming so radicalized on Palestine, that represents a small portion of the student body. More of what I see is this - students who might have feelings personally, but are afraid to talk about it in class at all, for fear of getting in trouble.

New survey finds professors exhausted by relentless attacks, self-censoring on a wide range of issues including Israel-Palestine (45% say more than a year ago, and a year ago was pretty f*cking bad) www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...

“Shande” is a word for Jews to use to refer to other Jews! Christians don’t get to use this word against Jews! I feel like I’m going out of my mind!

Tweet from Rep. Mike Lawler: “The only despicable betrayal is by Sen Schumer, a complete Shanda, who has thrown the Jewish people under the bus in his pursuit of power.

Supporting a vile antisemite like El-Sayed, because for Chuck Schumer being a Democrat matters more than standing up for the Jewish people.”

Yes, but Jews have been used this way a lot lately, to push an agenda from Christians that polls show that majority of us oppose. The worst example was the Trump administration's use of "campus antisemitism" to push an anti-higher education agenda they wanted to push since long before 10/7/2023.

Frankly, she is also using Jewish voters, as some have pointed out. It is really, really gross and I do not think it will hurt Abdul El-Sayed.

"She doesn't care about throwing away reproductive rights, throwing away civil rights, throwing away immigrant protections. Then to do it in the name of so-called Jewish safety... Boy, as an American Jew, I can tell you, that's not the way that anybody, Jews or Muslims or anybody else will be safe."

@bradlander.bsky.social in Brooklyn with a statement about Haley Stevens!

It's bad enough that there is so much actual Islamophobia in the institutional Jewish community; it feels even worse when philosemitic Christians pretend to be "supporting the Jews" simply to launder their own Islamophobia and racism.

What Haley Stevens has done is ensure that if Mike Rogers wins, there will be a backlash that will make it far harder for actual Jews in the Democratic Party to have their concerns heard. And she will not personally bear the brunt of that, because she is Not. Jewish. www.politico.com/news/2026/11...

Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens endorses Republican Mike Rogers for Michigan Senate

It's a blow for Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed in the final days of his campaign, and an escalation of their feud.
