EU/IRINI should explain why they did not detain the Toa Payoh. It changed flag to Cameroon in May. Cameroon had stopped accepting new ships in February. IMO clearly lists this #shadowfleet tanker as flase flagged. What legal options is missing to allow IRINI to detain such a vessel?
EU's Mediterranean naval task force has boarded another Russia-affiliated shadow tanker after suspicions of her flying a false flag of Cameroon. TOA PAYOH (IMO: 9298492) was forcefully inspected morning Aug 2nd 2026, southwest of Sicily. Investigation pending.

Boxship SEPELU drifting near Brest. Been going back and forth on "Not under command". Vessel associated with Nora/Nyra/Zyra. Known for weird U-turns. Destination: Kaliningrad.
Christian Panton@pa.nton.cx · 5mo agoThe schedule reveals a new vessel of interest: SEPELU (inferred from other schedules, and by checking port logs). What is interesting, is that SEPELU earlier in the day did a U-turn near the coast of Portugal. Did they forget to turn off the stove?

Trip down memory lane. As I started cataloguing the GNSS interference in 2023 I also argued this was detrimental to safety. Officially it was denied and more informally I was at points ridiculed by professionals, especially those from aviation circles. Now as then, they dumb.
"The jamming and spoofing in Baltic Sea is now more or less continuous and affects both flight and naval safety." Swedish Transport Agency Glad to hear official institutions acknowledging these facts. Especially the safety aspect, which took institutions a few good years to get on board with.
