This continually boggled my mind during last year's title run in. I know some Arsenal fans can be annoying, but are they *so* annoying that you take the alternative and support a club you're pretty sure cheated? Actually, don't answer that.
It is kind of amazing the way City, partly because of rather than in spite of things like the 115 charges, have been the neutral’s choice most of last decade. Almost the more divorced from reality they were, the fewer feelings they invoked - esp compared to original PL Big Four.
Realistically, how many players are "worth" £100m+? And of them, which club has the most? Inspired by a fun @billbarnwell.com piece, for @espn.com:
Transfer value tiers: Which club has the most players worth £100M-plus?
Which soccer players are actually worth £100m? Let's assess each team's stars, factoring in ability, positions, contracts and age.

Didn’t think it was possible for the secondary to get any worse but by god they’re giving it a go
Avonte Maddox requires surgery and will be out for the season.
Probably the worst facemask I’ve ever seen? And didn’t get called (appreciate it’s in the middle of a melee)
Not sure Shough actually got in on fourth down but he did nearly have his facemask ripped off
I can hear the steam whistling in José’s ears from here
Within the space of a week: Villa lost to Forest Villa beat Coventry Coventry beat Forest makes u think 🤔
Another timely reminder that: Arsenal and City are good Brentford and Leeds might be good Everyone else is bad 🫡 good night
(I don't know why it's happening) but LaLiga spreading so many games out throughout the week has been amazing for those of us watching from afar. Just randomly getting Real Madrid to watch on a Tuesday or something has been ace.
Joao Cancelo just scored these two goals less than half an hour apart, please send help
Interesting tussle here between Coventry City and Aston Villa to see who can be the least bad at football Villa edging it at the half
Enzo Maresca, the ultimate company man. Cut him and he bleeds City Football Group
Malick Yalcouyé turning heads early this season. Brighton do not miss when it comes to central midfielders... From a piece on scouting specialists back in February, for @espn.com: (full read here: www.espn.co.uk/football/sto...)
A burst of life from Yan Diomandé at Madrid. Spent the first half an hour at half speed, but suddenly switched up the gears and it’s an assist for Mbappé
A pretty terrible addition, as expected. The Guéhi one’s uselessness only compounded by the fact that when they cut back to the studio, Kelly Cates agreed that Guéhi effectively saying nothing at all on Foden’s red was the smart call
The format produces rushed questions and clipped responses from players who need to be in the dressing room. Is it worth it? www.nytimes.com/athletic/759...
Super bit of play from Kostoulas for his goal. Instinctive, clever, decisive.
I half watched Sunderland v Arsenal while on a family zoom call and I swear every time I looked up a full-on goal-line melee was happening?
That Maatsen injury is a crazy swing in momentum, incredible
10 minutes in and Mazraoui has taken 3 shots. I suppose my question is why
The amount of time fans spend getting wound up by what footballers say, when footballers put so little thought into what they say because they just have to say *something*, is mad to me
It’s just so, so good. Sending TWO defenders for a hot dog is insane
Pure genius from Raphinha 🤯 The Brazilian attacker sends not one but two Feyenoord players sliding as he puts Barcelona in front 👏 Don't miss the #UCL on @paramountplus 🍿
