I was so so disappointed when BBC News cancelled his program, one of the few interview programs left where reporters and interviewers came fully prepared to do "battle" with their subjects. Those programs are so rare now.

What a loss for the BBC; there goes my favorite program. Thanks a ton, Stephen, for everything you and your team have done over the years. Mind-boggling that HARDtalk was cancelled – and at such a turbulent time – but I hope your 'new adventures' include it somehow continuing in a different form.

Your final Hardtalk episode was an evocative reminder of the gross error in judgement by the BBC. It's been an invaluable public accountability engine. Thank you for all you've done to make it so. As the US moves into theatrical abuse of power, its cancellation is utterly incomprehensible.

I’ve just recorded my last contribution for the BBC after 39 years. It’ll be on the next edition of From Our Own Correspondent on @BBCRadio4 and @bbcworldservice Now onward to new adventures… As my hero Marcelo Bielsa might say, ‘Vamos Carajo!’

I've wanted to ask you this for years: when you took your leave of Studs Terkel, he said: :"You're a good interviewer, Stephen." Did you feel the torch was being passed?

Just at the time when the world needs more of your fearless journalism. Thank you for all those years of speaking truth to power.

You will be desperately missed. Thank you for the contributions to understanding the world today. Best wishes going forward.
