It’s valid to be skeptical of the CDC, given the leadership there. But most outbreak data comes from state health departments. You can easily double check any aggregated national data the CDC publishes by comparing for with state level data for consistency.

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change. Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms. But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.
