As someone who loves film, this whole narrative that "there are no good guys or bad guys anymore, moral relativism is killing modern cinema" pisses me off because of how ahistorical it is. 1970s cinema was practically defined by antiheroes. 50 fucking years ago! Half a century ago! 🤷
According to YouTube, Millennials ruined modern writing. I think there's something else going on....
Gonna post my ReelRank #LastFiveWatched cause I forgot to log these into Letterboxd lol. And it's one more than #LastFourWatched by one. That means its louder. Anyway, what a mix. Fifty years of film, with high highs and low lows. Shoutout to Arachnophobia, still gives me the creeps.
Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched ➡️
Zach Cregger's Resident Evil gives new meaning to the term 'failing upward'.
A ★★★★ review of Resident Evil (2026)
Once again, Zach Cregger tries to meld separate pitches into one film, only this time, the monster it creates is actually very effective. A 'One Bad Night' film that's After Hours by way of Evil Dead ...

A later #LetterboxdFriday for me than usual because I had one more film to slot in for my #LastFourWatched. 1) A goopy slapstick survival horror. 2) A good-hearted, inventive time travel comedy. 3) A festive time at the Inn. 4) A true crime murder fantasy dinner. #filmsky #moviesky
ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976) John Carpenter at his rawest and most inventive. Has its energy and sly humor escaped us? Witness the birth of a true movie legend. If you’ve never seen it, now’s the time. Just try getting that theme out of your head. Laurie Zimmer is a standout. Tight quick and quirky
Fucking magical. The logical creative endpoint to what began with The Dirties for Matt Johnson's directorial career.

Watching Argento's The Mother of Tears and it's an odd duck, but when it riffs on the Suspiria score, best believe I raised a glass to that.

Whoa! The 'streaming on' feature on #ReelRank has gotten more robust lately, it seems. reelrank.net/m/dirty-rott... Time was, you'd drop down that menu and not one thing would populate. That's, like, 20 different options, 5 of them free. Very cool! #FilmSky 📽️ #MovieSky 🎞️
Hahaha. Laughably bad. Every time the killer used that gravelly voice changer, he speaks like a sulky teen trying to sound cool. You know you have to actually finish the first movie to be able to tease a sequel, right?
