The BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport community came together this evening to honor & welcome home 1st Lt. Walter Bateman, a Maryland native and WWII pilot killed in 1943. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency recently identified his remains.
The Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area has long been a favorite spot for those wanting to watch planes as they arrive. Along Dorsey Road, it is popular among both families and planespotters. A roadside marker to mark our 75th anniversary was added last year.

Celebrating nearly 40 years! BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Driver/Operator Don Ell retired last week after joining the department in July 1987. After providing countless water salutes to others, he was honored with a water salute on his final day. Best wishes, Don!
