Rhun ap Iorwerth, the first non-Labour Senedd leader, questions Westminster’s willingness to relinquish powers Andy Burnham has to be serious about devolution and understand that Wales is a nation and “not a region in England”, according to the country’s first minister. Rhun ap Iorwerth, who is the first non-Labour leader of the Senedd since devolution, told the Guardian that while he was encouraged by initial discussions with the new UK prime minister, he was wary about Burnham being captured by a consensus Westminster view against relinquishing further powers. 🚨 If Scotland, Northern Ireland and some parts of England have powers over policing - why can't Wales? Wales already funds more than half of Welsh policing, and 3 independent commissions have recommended devolving powers. It's time for Wales to control Welsh policing 🏴
Mae Plaid Cymru wedi galw ar Lywodraeth y DU i osod sancsiynau llymach ar Israel ers blynyddoedd. Er bod y cyhoeddiad heddiw i'w groesawu, dylai’r gwaharddiad hwn fod wedi digwydd ymhell cyn nawr. Bydd Plaid Cymru yn parhau i sefyll gyda phobl Palesteina. 🏴🇵🇸
Plaid Cymru has called on the UK Government to impose harsher sanctions on Israel for years. So while this announcement is welcome, a trade ban trade with illegal settlements in Palestine is long overdue. Plaid Cymru will continue to stand with the Palestinian people. 🏴🇵🇸

Devolving policing would bring services already run in Wales together to help keep our communities safer. By having a Plaid Cymru Government, we're already moving the dial and getting Westminster to listen. We’re ready to work with the Prime Minister and his Government to deliver for Wales.
Farage washing his hands of this mess by claiming he simply wasn’t listening. For someone who claims to know electoral law “better than anyone”, he’s recently been embroiled in several investigations into Reform’s donations. Can that truly be down to carelessness?

Plaid Cymru believes that bringing power closer to people provides better outcomes. The PM does too, saying just last week he was open to devolving policing to Wales for that reason. But after strong opposition from Welsh Labour MPs, he seems to be changing his tune on giving Wales more powers.
Mae gan yr Alban, Gogledd Iwerddon a Manceinion reolaeth dros blismona – ond nid oes gan Gymru. Dywedodd y Prif Weinidog wythnos diwethaf ei fod yn agored i ddatganoli plismona i Gymru felly roedd yn siomedig na ddangosodd yr un parodrwydd heddiw. Bydd Plaid Cymru yn parhau i wthio am hyn.
Scotland, Northern Ireland and Greater Manchester have control over policing – but Wales does not. The PM recently expressed openness to devolving policing to Wales so it was disappointing that he didn’t show the same willingness today. Plaid Cymru will keep pushing for this to be on the table.

Andy Burnham has put devolution at the heart of his agenda. Plaid Cymru is calling on him to give Wales powers over policing, rail and the Crown Estate so that our communities can prosper. But is he already backtracking on his openness to devolution to Wales? 👀
