I feel that certain forms of art are relatively insultated from the threat of AI. It will create a bifurcated market, where people who engage with art primarily as a distraction will bow to the machine, whereas people that use art for its emotional value will pay a premium for human made stuff.

I was 11 years old on 9/11 and I wasn't phased by it upon first hearing about it. I knew that we bombed other countries. I saw Saddam Hussein on Animaniacs. I assumed other countries bombed us sometimes. My parents had to sit me down to explain why we're above the violence we inflict on others.

One of the most important types of accounts you can follow is something I call "The Dipshit Barometer." If there is a fearmongering, apocalyptic take going around, check in on the dipshit barometer to see if they affirm it. If they do, you don't have to worry about it.

It is obvious to me that AI has immense destructive power, but I don't really think the people dismissing these concerns as 'marketing' are doing so because they are uninformed or as 'cope.' I think the AI industry's historical capacity for puffery is informing these takes.

From Evangelical Christians to Rokos Basilisk-pilled AI engineers, it's funny how many people exist out there who are actively trying to bring about the apocalypse. I feel that if you have stated omnicidal intent, it should be automatic grounds for [redacted]
