Far right extremism, anti-immigration xenophobia and misogyny; often a circle in a Venn diagram. And exactly why your feminism should be anti-racist and vice versa.
Lizzie Dearden@lizziedearden.bsky.social · 2y agoCallum Parslow, the neo-Nazi terrorist who stabbed an asylum seeker at a Worcestershire hotel last year, is being sentenced today I revealed how he was also an online stalker who had targeted at least 11 women and girls, and was on bail at the time of the attack www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I can only hope I have a fraction of their impact 💜
3/Jenny Gilruth was generous with her time, answering many qs from attendees. My wonderful friend/colleague pointed out the intersectional nature of misogyny/racism,as she has experienced herself & witnessed girls of colour especially being targeted on many levels. @zemzc.bsky.social #SWCEducation25

Human rights are universal - if we start stripping away basic human rights from any section of society then none of us has rights – just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want. Would we really want to take that path?
Peter Stefanovic@peterstefanovic.bsky.social · 2y agoReform UK leader Nigel Farage says “We need to leave the ECHR so we can deport people that come illegally & take back control of our borders & that’s what the public wants” Share if you disagree with his populist boll**** the UK should join Russia & Belarus outside the ECHR youtu.be/iSTN-h8NoyY
🔊 Our 7th annual #ReflectingRealities report is out now! This year’s report shows a significant drop in the presence of racially minoritised characters in books published for children in 2023 in the UK.
Weapons grade hypocrisy on display here… Classic Clarkson.
Crazy how QAnon spent years fear mongering about democrats being pedophiles, meanwhile Trump stocks up his administration with actual pedophiles and child sexual abuse enablers.
Rise and Fall: Great Empires that Shaped the World by Peter Allen is fascinating. It explores nine ancient civilisations (Minoan, Kamakura Shogunate, Kingdom of Benin, etc), what made them great, their culture and society, and what caused their decline. I read it from cover to cover. Ideal for Y5/6.
Huge congratulations Nuzhat!!
Nuzhat Uthmani@nuthmani.bsky.social · 2y agoI won 🎉🙏🏼🎊 I thanked all those that do the hard work of antiracist practice in 🏴 education and that this recognition is for all of us to keep fighting and not give up ✊🏽✊🏽 #InspirationalEducatorAndLeadership #ZynEmpowermentAwards 2024

Like, it's wild to me that it's not a given that nobody ACCIDENTALLY quotes Hitler. Nobody ACCIDENTALLY uses slurs. You might accidentally get caught. But things don't just fall out of your mouth or your keyboard without your belief behind them & it's wild that anyone acts like they could.
This is so much better than the tokenistic extra shelf in the library labelled "Diversity Books"!
Prof Prachi Srivastava 🌈@prachisrivas.bsky.social · 2y agoVery cool. Penguin's book vending machine dispenses free books from the 'Lit In Colour' list by authors of colour to diversify students exposure to literature: 'Fewer than 1% of students in GCSE study a book by a writer of colour'. #EduSky #Books #Literature www.thebookseller.com/news/penguin...
