When even scientists are shocked by extreme weather, the only conclusion to draw: we're in trouble. Must-read story by @eroston.bsky.social 🎁🔗 www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202...

As someone in this picture I find it a little odd that @natureportfolio.nature.com chose this image to illustrate the point. We were very careful when choosing a slogan for our signs that it be scientificly defenceable. "Science says New Oil & Gas = Death" is a plain statement of fact 🧵
If you’re asking How could such a thing have happened? The answer is that it is all one big garden party, and you absolutely are not invited, ever spectator.com/article/spec...

The weather is glorious, England have soared through to the World Cup round of 16 and one Sir Keir Starmer has just weeks left as Prime Minister. So where better to celebrate – or commiserate, if you ...

Jesus. It's all just one giant laugh to the media/elite class innit. No mention of the huge rightward shift, economic damage etc and all the associated human suffering that those things bring.

Quelle surprise: my comment on the Govt's latest climate commitment (www.gov.uk/government/n... is out of step, at least publicly, with many colleagues: www.sciencemediacentre.org/expert-react... With expert whitewash on one side & charlatans on the other, an honest climate debate stands no chance.
Looking forward to this in a few months time. @alexheffron.bsky.social and I are presenting a paper revisiting Michael Woods' Politics of the Rural, and exploring it in an era of reactionary politics.
At the upcoming @rgs.org conference in London there will be the session "Rural Politics of the Far Right", organized by Bernd Belina & Matthias Naumann, with @woodszzp.bsky.social, @tom-cb.bsky.social, @ohabra.bsky.social, Eleanor Schaumann & Dash Anderson. #GeoSky www.rgs.org/research/ann...
This is a really grim decision alongside Cenk. People often talk about dangerous road we'd go down under a Reform government - this is another clear warning we're down there already. A Labour government doing everything possible to silence criticism of the Israeli Government
Hasan Piker speaking on being banned from the UK.
An absolutely laughable piece of "journalism". Wild that people actually get paid to write this nonsense. Really really worrying that stuff of this ilk gets to set the news agenda
A fun Sunday read on Zack Polanski today, incl: - the “massive strop” around his departure from the LDs - another CV fib - a senior Green fig saying his social media use is the party’s “biggest liability” w @annasophiegross.bsky.social, for @financialtimes.com www.ft.com/content/2c3a...
One cartoon can't counteract all the targeted attacks over the past decade. Without a formal apology and reparations to trans people from The Guardian this is just insulting. No offence meant to the person who made the cartoon just the audacity of The Guardian publishing it
Satuday's @theguardian.com cartoon #transrights #EHRC #LGBTQ
This. This is what the Israeli state is. It's a fascist genocidal state with zero regard for human rights or international law. Aided and abetted by the UKs own government. Absolutely shameful.
If this is what the Israeli authorities do to people the world is watching, imagine what they do to people with no voice and no visibility. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
@carolinelucas.bsky.social @adrianramsay.bsky.social this is what you're asking Greens to stand aside for. Absolutely ridiculous position. Always was, always will be. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Absolutely wild! Solid example of why people voted overwhelmingly for him not to be leader. Also, Burnham has ruled out PR. Wake up and smell the coffee....Labour, Burnham led or otherwise, is neither a progressive party, no a viable force to stop the far right
Former Greens co-leader and MP Adrian Ramsay throwing his weight behind the argument for the party to *not* put everything into a campaign in Makerfield which could end up helping Reform win. Others disagree.
Seems rather unlikely that Sustainable Aviation Fuels (e.g. biofuels) are the solution to reduce aviation emissions. Even if we switch ALL current US corn production to SAF we would not even be able to meet *present day* US aviation needs.
The emboldening of the extreme right is terrifying The fact it is happening as the left is demonised, vilified and criminalised is not coincidental and it should terrify us even more as it is where resistance only exists The liberal bulwark was always a fantasy
These are the kinds of groups getting behind Tommy Robinson's Unite the Kingdom march today. They are showing their true colours. We cannot allow this to be normalised.
Deary me. This ridiculous progressive nationalism agenda needs dropping immediately. Caroline Lucas doing the bidding of a right wing Labour government which kowtows to the far right repeatedly is absolutely wild. We need a new politics, not of the establishment so let's not go supporting it eh?!
I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them. Burnham’s longstanding commitment to a fairer voting system could transform our democracy & counter the dire threat of a Reform UK government elected on a minority of the vote
A new far-right terror attack in the UK has been confirmed in court. Alina Burns, then 18, tried to behead an Iranian refugee who was standing outside a barber's shop in Bristol with an axe The attack took place on 2 August 2025 but a judge did not rule on 'terrorism connection' until today
Wild that out of all of the Labour MPs, only 3 would beat Starmer, who is by far the most unpopular PM in history. Hardly bodes well for Labour does it?!
Who would beat Keir Starmer in a leadership election?
Deary me this is bad.....like really bad! Even in the US, tackling climate change has majority support. To deal with it, you can't ignore it, you can't 'take the politics out of it', you have to struggle constantly and develop the necessary politics. It's VERY hard. That is why we must carry on.
Hello, it’s me in @nytopinion.nytimes.com The Democratic Party is historically unpopular & hemorrhaging working class voters. Focusing on the issue of climate change —an issue mainly impt to their educated/affluent base—is not a way to reverse this. This marks the end of an era. 👇
YES YOU DO, YOU DO ACTUALLY DO THAT, ESPECIALLY ON LONG FLIGHTS. CHANGING PILOTS DURING A FLIGHT IS A THING THAT REGULARLY HAPPENS, DAVID
“You don’t change the pilot during a flight — you carry on.” Listening to David Lammy speak is so tiresome. If the pilot turns out to be incapable of doing the job, you replace them, because the lives of all the passengers depend on having someone competent in control. #r4today
UK media owners decide they want Reform in power --> Reform gets wall to wall fawning coverage across all media outlets --> media pundits claim Reform has the mandate of the people. Repeat.
There are antisemites at the Tommy Robinson protests. There is footage of attendees doing N*zi salutes. As Harry Shukman’s book attests, several of the far right groups who support TR engage in antisemitism behind closed doors. I wonder when we’ll get to asking if they should be restricted/banned?
Another day, another national newspaper publishing a cartoon with Zack Polanski with a massive hook nose. Another day of silence from mainstream politicians self-proclaimed great antisemitism fighters on the antisemitism faced by Zack. Solidarity with Zack and ALL the victims of antisemitism.
