I read dead people. Serial greyhound adopter (🌈Lance, Poppy, Dodge, Rex, and Hunter🌈) and greyhound art collector.
And the utility said, "Let there be light!" Reveling in the glories of electricity -- air conditioning, coffee on demand, ability to charge devices, and streaming TV! Lots of food disposal and restocking ahead. Thanks to all who expressed concern! My sympathies to those still without power.
Reading through the outage. Him: analog book, courtesy of rechargeable lighbulb. Me: iPad.📚
Outage update: The news conference said power should be back by Thursday, but did not reveal a schedule of areas to be addressed. So we'll have to make do in the meantime.
15 hours and counting without power. The sound of my neighbor's whole-house generator is taunting me.
Sitting in the near-dark of a storm power outage. Will be back once power is restored!
The day our boys thought their DoorDash delivery was a tad too rare. (Full disclosure: The boys were held at bay and the young racoons scampered away intact).
Our corgi-sitting mission is complete. She was a good girl. I had to laugh at how little food she ate (1/2 cup for breakfast, 1/3 cup for dinner) compared to my greys!
Elvis has the spotlight in Memphis today, but music lost more than The King on Aug. 16. Let my husband explain (and it's totally free to read). davidwesleywilliams.substack.com/p/ode-to-aug...

Enjoyed a pee, now snoozing in her crate, which is minuscule by greyhound standards. She's a snorer.
Our houseguest has arrived. An unexpected bonus: the one we're dog-sitting doesn't wear diapers in-house. Relieved to be wrong. Her diaper-wearing sister passed away earlier this year 😌. Got the dogs confused in my mind.
Sewer line repair followup: I was expecting to have to bitch, but the insurance company came through better than expected. Now we need the mounds to settle so the landscaping can be repaired. 😁
Spousal pride post! Congrats to @davidwwilliams.bsky.social! 🤞
An ice storm aftermath, the newspaper industry, small-town Helen of Troy circa 1993 and where climate crisis and motherhood intersect: Here are the four books that have Memphians up for a statewide award.
Decided to take a road trip to a couple antique malls. Got a greyt deal on a painting! At least it looks like a painting. I'll take it out of the fame and check when we get home.
Rip lets it rip, getting feisty on his last night here (delayed travel for his pawrents extended his stay here to tomorrow morning).
Rip's visit is winding down. While he seems to have been happy during his stay, we all know there's no place like home.
I was finally back at my bookstore volunteer gig today! The newspaper website doesn't provide gift links, unfortunately.
📚 Second Edition Books, the used bookstore inside Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, reopened Friday, July 31. Used book sales at other library locations remain paused. https://dailymemphian.com/subscriber/article/65219/second-edition-books-at-benjamin-l-hooks-central-library-reopening.
Next time a neighbor asks, I'm going to say we were attacked by Massive Mutant Moles. Maybe I can sell movie rights!
My dream of owning an Elite Pottery #greyhound head has been fulfilled! Now to figure out the safest way to hang it. I'm glad the purchase was made before the sewer line replacement cropped up, else I would have passed on the opportunity.
Sidewalk portion of the sewer line repair is now done! Watching the pebble finish emerge was fascinating!
