Asking for all the pediatricians I know - Congressman John McGuire do you want to stand between families and their doctors? Shouldn’t parents and families have the choice about their medical care including vaccines? Doesn’t sound like common sense or freedom to me.

Remember the SNAP cuts in the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill?” Children account for nearly half of the 2.4 million people who are no longer receiving SNAP in at least 19 states. The true number of kids impacted nationwide is unknown. This is horrifying. No child should go hungry.

Thursday’s measles updates….and also an advisory from the Virginia Department of Health to avoid large gatherings in Buckingham.

This is the number of cases of measles this year in Virginia. (Last year we had 5 the entire year.) Again, the correct number of measles cases is ZERO. Please check your vaccination status and reach out to learn more if you have questions.

Latest update on the Buckingham measles outbreak (cases increased to 84 from 69). Still contained to the Piedmont Health district - 15 more cases than last week’s update. (Included the last 4 updates below) We recommend early vaccination with MMR, which is the best way to prevent measles.

Thursday update shows ongoing increase in measles cases in the Buckingham outbreak. Good news —- it has not spread outside of the Piedmont health District. However, the BRHD shares multiple borders w/buckingham so we remain on alert and recommend early vaccination for babies and toddlers.

Holding steady with this morning’s measles update- with the outbreak in Buckingham at 41 cases- and not spreading out of Buckingham at this point! Of note, 80% of the cases in this outbreak are in unvaccinated people.
