Person who rides a bike, in New Zealand. Believes we are all better off when more people ride, more often.

As we all know, people regularly make these sorts of comments online encouraging violence against cyclists, often attached to their real identities, and there are rarely consequences. I'm glad to see someone being held accountable because this type of dehumanizing language has real consequences.

Kevin Whelan, who worked as an IT Manager at the college in New Zealand, acknowledged his joke was “clumsy”. His appeal against his dismissal for serious misconduct was rejected

Today, I managed to cycle all the way to Lower Hutt from my apartment in Newtown, Wellington. It's about 20km and I was able to use cycle lanes and/or shared paths for pretty much the whole way there! I didn't think I'd be able to do this in my lifetime, and I'm absolutely stoked.
