Here's a photograph from last Friday's sound bath at Thrive Wellbeing Hub in Sale, featuring my Meinl Sonic Energy 10" Rain Disk, my Thomann 70cm wind gong on my Sela round gong stand, my antique Ultabati bowl... and me! 😅 (I'm holding my 'Supernova' mallet made by Epic Mallets.)

Photograph of Dr. Nicholas Peters in front of his 70cm Thomann wind gong (suspended on a Sela round gong stand) at Thrive Wellbeing Hub, Hampden Road, Sale, where he holds regular sound baths for deep relaxation. There are purple and blue nebula cloud projections illuminating the face of the gong.

In the photograph, he is holding his 'Supernova' mallet, handmade by Epic Mallets.

To the left of him, there is a Meinl Sonic Energy 10" rain disk with a Tree of Life and Moon Phase pattern resting on a small wooden stand. To the right of him, there is an antique Ultabati Himalayan singing bowl.

It was an honour being invited to talk about and perform some shamanic drumming last night at the Adam Day 2026 celebration in Manchester. There were about 200 people at the event which takes place every year on 10th August celebrating peace and harmony through unity in diversity.

The bowl seen in the back left of the photograph in the original post is an example of the soft alloy type Manipuri. The soft alloy type are more difficult to source and they often show little remaining artwork. Here are two close-up photographs of this soft alloy Manipuri. See ALT text for info.

Photograph by Dr. Nicholas Peters showing the interior of a soft alloy antique Manipuri Himalayan singing bowl. Owing to the alloy used in this bowl, there is neither decoration inside the bowl, nor decoration on the rim. This bowl feels very different to hard alloy bowls as it is smooth to hold and very light for its size. It is interesting to notice the changing thickness of the bowl wall at the rim, a typical feature of handmade metal bowls.

In the photograph, the bowl can be seen on top of a highly decorated purple drape with decorative flowers, birds, and tree branches.

This Manipuri Himalayan singing bowl was one of the four bowls recorded in my composition 'Elemental Balance' in May 2023 and it was released in September 2024.

This bowl is interesting because there are still fairly strong decorative lines seen about one third of the way down from the bowl's rim. The rim itself is also fairly pronounced.

In the photograph, the bowl can be seen resting on a red brocade cushion pad on top of a highly decorated purple drape with decorative flowers, birds, and tree branches.

The bowl seen in the front right of the photograph in the previous post is an example of the hard alloy type Manipuri. Here are two more photographs of this antique Manipuri bowl showing its extensive detailing inside and on the rim, and its characteristic low-walled profile. See ALT text for info.

Photograph by Dr. Nicholas Peters showing the interior of a hard alloy antique Manipuri Himalayan singing bowl. The decorations on the top of the rim show the characteristic dot punch sun motif/bunting (which are also often seen below the rims on Goalbati bowls). There are concentric circles inside the base of the bowl, as well as further dot punch sun motifs/bunting and a faint star in the centre.

In the photograph, the bowl can be seen on top of a highly decorated purple drape with decorative flowers, birds, and tree branches.
