"Sir" SSGT Emily Carter approached her with a working pad. "Inventory of all decks."
Phillips flicked through the list, seething as her spaces were about to be invaded again by dunners, ops department, and her xenophile captain. One unit caught her eye.
"Verify" she said. Carter looked at the pad, at the selected object.
"I saw it myself." She smiled "What's it worth to you?"
Phillips scrolled back, and found it, "Here."
A storage locker held emergency supplies. Nothing interesting.
“That old locker contains 40 expired MREs.”
While disgusting, they beat the emergency food paste that had been going around.
“I don’t know” Carter said, negotiating.
“Flavor packets intact on all units.”
Carter looked at the pad then back at Phillips.
Carter tapped a comms unit, one of the ones the intel department pretended it didn't have. It disappeared from the ledger.

The imbalance of having the two seals broken along the stress fracture of the internal warp ring caused the entire ships keel to shift. The massive starship shuddered as her deck lost their alignment, at first by less than a millimeter. Emergency doors began snapping shut, but most couldn't find their seals. One external hatch bore the burnt of the millions of ton of tungsten alloy twisting. The metal made brittle from nearly a century of service sheered and cracked. Deck 10 underwent a violent decompression, causing the stressed metal to warp even more. Multiple decks began to decompress slowly thought the heavy sealed doors that could no longer seal. PSC Blake Cooper watched his vessel coming apart in real time from his nearly forgotten post.$
