it's always odd when "you should expose yourself to more diverse ideas" always means a certain kind of conservatism instead of like, Indigenous art, new fusion foods, math paradoxes, or the Dvorak keyboard layout

ftr matzah is bread. it is not *leavened* bread. also, there is a matzah-breaking ritual during the seder so even though el-sayed meant it metaphorically it is also literally true. this isn't a lie meant for jews, it's to get goyim to falsely think el-sayed was being antisemitic or insensitive.

People angrily insisting that El-Sayed using the phrase “break bread” re: sharing a meal with Jews at Passover was ignorant or offensive or insincere is a peak combination of assholes going out of their way to find something to get angry about & some Jews having weird illiteracy about Judaism.

El-Sayed: "Once a government agency like ICE is told it has impunity to do the worst things and violate the highest law of the land, which is the Constitution itself, I don't think you can reform or retrain. I think we need to start from scratch ... I think we need to abolish it."

An actually underrated potential positive for Dems in light of Abdul’s victory is that it gives traditionally centrist or otherwise poor Dems on Palestine on an easy out for polarizing against AIPAC and pro-Israel politics— they’re trying to cost Dems the Senate.

A big majority of Americans want the
U.S. government to stop sending American $$ to Israel's reckless regime and to end the war in Iran.
Yet AIPAC is threatening to spend to deliver the Republicans a critical Senate seat in Michigan, helping a Trump stooge like Mike Rogers who will keep funding Netanyahu's wars and do nothing to stop Trump's Iran War.
This is exactly why so many
Democrats like me have rejected
AIPAC.

">900 people in Washtenaw County, MI, have been sickened with cyclosporiasis since mid-June. Linda Kim, a public health nurse, has called >100 of them. Almost everyone has said the same thing: It’s excruciating, and one of the worst illnesses they’ve experienced." kffhealthnews.org/public-healt...

at the Met, anyway, and again, yes, I know, I hear myself, but I need as many people as possible to know that the $45 fourth-ring seats at the Met are genuinely better than the $400 orchestra ones (same with the ballet)

Just your regular reminder that: 1) Almost everyone has an underlying health issue if you look hard enough 2) People with underlying health issues don't deserve to die for eating lettuce 3) We should be strengthening, not weakening our regulatory processes. And properly funding them.

Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.

Good @gelliottmorris.com piece showing Trump's deportations are unpopular in *all* the swing states. Key point: Republicans know Trump is deeply vulnerable on the issue, even if pundits refuse to see it. He discusses my piece on Susan Collins/Dems at length: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/even-repub...

Even Republicans in Congress can see how unpopular Trump's immigration agenda is

For the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️

The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

Things I and friends have done to calm an angry abusive man from further escalating and killing us or our children: -Smiled -Kept normal schedules in order not to trigger a fight -Appeased with kind acts (cooking, cleaning, favors) -Forced friendly tones and words

Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.
