Proudly representing Allegheny County and its residents as Controller. Mayor-elect of the City of Pittsburgh. https://linktr.ee/coreyformayor

It was great to be with community members - big & small - in Northview Heights to announce United Methodist Church’s new building this week. This fantastic organization supports seniors, PPS students, children & many more in Northview Heights & will soon do so in a larger space.

It was wonderful to open CitiParks annual Black History Month display at City Hall last night! We honored the remarkable Vashon family for their contributions to our City and Commonwealth for two centuries. The display is open now at the City-County Building!

It was great to be on hand with Acting Director Williams & Acting Chief Lando for my first Pittsburgh Bureau of Police graduation ceremony as Mayor. I’m so thankful to the 24 men and women of this class for choosing to serve our city & its residents.

We are suspending refuse collection through the end of the week so Public Works crews can focus on snow. Garbage & recycling pick up trucks are plowing, residential snow is on curbs, & we are expecting low wind chills. Collection will resume as normal on Monday, February 2nd.

Crews have cleared 100-tons of snow from intersections in Garfield alone. Our contractors are using front loaders & other equipment to haul snow out of neighborhoods & off of streets after being plowed. Sixty Public Works crews & contractors remain on the roads.

50 contractor trucks will join 35 from Public Works to continue plowing following the major storm. Front loaders will take snow from corners to be hauled away. Please don’t park near corners or in a business districts. Please check on neighbors as the bitter cold takes hold.

I was just in the Strip District checking in with Heavy Equipment and the Fourth Division. The snow is still coming down quickly. We’re already at a few inches with more to come. Our crews are working hard. Just remember, as more snow falls, a road may become covered again.

I’m encouraging every Pittsburgher to check on their neighbors this weekend. We’ve been making calls (thanks Jill!) & I’m happy to say we’ve recruited over 150 new Snow Angels! Snow Angels pairs older residents, or people with disabilities, with a neighbor to clear their snow.

Ahead of the snowstorm, Public Works is preparing: • 2PM-10PM: 35 Trucks Pretreating • 10PM-6AM: 65 Trucks • 6AM-2PM: 85 Trucks If you don’t need to travel for essential work or health reasons, try to stay off the roads. Check on your neighbors, & stay safe, Pittsburgh!

It was great to join the County Executive and Point Park University to announce a partnership for the Creative Direction Micro-Credentialing Program with HXOUSE. The program will bring a revolutionary entertainment business incubator to Point Park. It was co-founded by La Mar Taylor and The Weeknd.

Lighting provides vibrancy, safety & public art in neighborhoods. Tonight, my team, the Department of Mobility & Infrastructure, & the Pittsburgh Police walked Downtown to evaluate lighting. They identified quick replacements, dark areas for investment, & safety hotspots for intervention.

Right before I took the oath of office two weeks ago, I was grateful to be given some “new job” advice from the only people who could offer it. I’m thankful to Mayors Murphy, Ravenstahl, Peduto, and Gainey for their friendship as I join in this unique club.

With ongoing flurries moving through Pittsburgh, and temperatures below freezing, I’ve called in the Department of Public Works nightshift early for a 12-hour shift. There will be 40 trucks on the roads citywide until 10PM. There will be 20 trucks overnight to salt slick spots and problem areas.
