It's another scorcher on Skomer today! If you're visiting us over the next few days, please bring plenty of water, suncream and appropriate clothing. The Guillemots and Razorbills have started leaving now, but there's still plenty of seabirds here to enjoy.

Once the fog eased off, the island was looking glorious in the sun last night. There was an adult Stonechat calling to a fledgling as this photo was taken - just one of many fledglings on the island at the moment.

We are back! The Skomer team landed safely back on the island today with many boxes, bags and sacks of potatoes, and were greeted by a Siskin, Hen Harrier and plenty of butterflies. We are very grateful to Amy and Anna, two of last year's long-term volunteers, for helping us with the move on.

Christmas hours - No hostel or event bookings can be taken 18th Dec - 5th Jan. Day trips can still be booked online as normal. Social media will not be monitored during this time. Thank you, and we hope you have a wonderful Christmas period!

The team on Skomer were very saddened to hear the news that Mike Alexander, ex-Warden on Skomer, has died aged 77, after a lifetime dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild places in Wales. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife Rosanne. Read more: welshwildlife.org/news/wildlif...

Skomer is now closed! 25,339 of you visited the island this year - our busiest ever year. Please be assured that we monitor our visitor numbers carefully to ensure that visitors do not negatively affect our wildlife. We thank you for continuing to support our work.

Our webcam Manx Shearwater has now fledged - it is now on its way to Argentina. A few weeks ago, researchers from OxNav research group ringed the burrow chick (under license) as part of ongoing Manx Shearwater work on the island.

We've had a few spaces come available in our otherwise sold out events season: - Skomer Folk - 17th Aug to 20th Aug, 3 beds, £300 each. - Skomer Yoga - 26th Aug to 28th Aug, 1 bed, £185. To book, please call the booking office on 01656 724100, Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm.

Monday was Skomer Pride, a wonderful celebration of the LGBTQ+ community - Skomer is proud to be a safe, accepting place for all staff, volunteers and visitors. We champion your right to be your true self. Alongside wildlife content, our social media will always showcase this.
