I am a photographer in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. I take pictures of people and ride vintage scooters.

Here are some photos of Abby Div from 2017. I wanted to photograph her with her curls in bloom, but she showed up in pigtails and said it would take hours to comb her hair out. Later, she hosted some workshops that I wanted to attend but never got around to. I haven’t heard from her in a while

Duke Ellington famously said There are only two kinds of music. Good music and bad music. I like them both. And I usually agree, but WTF is Tiny Desk Radio playing tonight? Last week’s show was fantastic. This is just an irritating waste of electricity.

I don’t know. Bandsintown is likely some automated bullshit used by Apple Music. They sent me a push notification for a John Coltrane concert in Philadelphia later this month. I’d love to see him perform, but he’s been dead for over 60 years

I bought my first SLR in 1984 or 1985 and took a course in portraiture. I learned a lot about posing and light. These 2 photos are from an assignment to shoot an entire roll of one person in one shoot. Unheard of for an amateur photographer at the time.

Here is a photo of Arianne that no one has ever seen before. Not even me! I hate when I overlook a great picture, but I love the surprise when I discover it

What strikes me here is that, as a woman, her name tag says Christa. I bet Kelly’s said Kelly, not Mark. This is true in hospitals too, where mostly female nurses have name tags with their first name, while mostly male doctors have name tags which only say Dr. <lastname>.

Before losing her life in 1986 aboard Space Shuttle Challenger, Christa McAuliffe was set to be the first teacher in space with plans to teach a lesson to kids around the world from orbit. Today is her birthday, and even now, her courage and dedication to education continues to inspire.
