I make comics: Fall Through/ Come Again/ Save It For Later/ March/ Lies My Teacher Told Me/ Swallow Me Whole. DIANA out Oct. 6th— preorder now! Books/prints/original art & commissions: https://www.nate-powell.com
This is the thing about comics/cartoons. 95% of people won't notice the craft and thought going into this. But it's there, and it's what makes comics so good!
There are four elements to the cartoon. The girls The wife The case The husband. If you divide the picture into four, each element ends up in its own quadrant. Whichever way you do it. It's a pretty good cartoon.
Webcomic #745 by Nate Powell Incoming webcomics have been trickling in. So we hit up our pal Nate to see if we could post a page from his upcoming book, Diana. @natepowell.bsky.social razorcake.org/webcomic-745...
Out today! In case you missed the individual issue, my story “False Bottom” is collected in THE TWILIGHT ZONE: Stories From the Fifth Dimension, published by IDW. There’s also a limited hardcover which has bonus process notes & sketches from each creator.
Derf Backderf's new graphic novel "The Dissidents" is a chilling tale of how America silenced critics of an unpopular war, anti-immigrant hysteria and consolidation of wealth... in 1917. Derf Backderf’s ‘The Dissidents’ Takes Us Back 110 Years To Find Today’s America
Imagine a time of anti-immigrant fervor, unpopular wars and official intolerance of dissent. It's easy if you try, as Derf Backderf shows in his new graphic novel.

I've seen the interiors of this book and dear lord is this a visual treasury of seductive, evil magic. @beckycloonan.bsky.social is a master of mood and aesthetic, and each page drips with doomed hormones. www.kickstarter.com/projects/kin...

FEVER DREAM is a brand new work that exists in the liminal space between an art book and graphic novel.

Now’s a great time to reread my 2018 graphic novel COME AGAIN— new edition out on 9/15 from Abrams ComicArts! It’s the origin point of what evolved into a decade-long triptych of interconnected stories, written & penciled while I drew March. A horror-oriented, feelings-heavy 1979 Ozark fairy tale.

That is such a cool cover on Diana.
If you’re getting my books at your local comics shop, the final order cutoff date for DIANA, COME AGAIN & FALL THROUGH (all published by Abrams ComicArts) is this Monday, 8/31! A few words about the significance of preordering books:
Survival in comics often feels tenuous & Sisyphean— please help support the viability of my creative vision by preordering if you can. I love these books & characters, and DIANA is moody, emotional, sexy, a mess, a celebration, an origin story & so so loving. Thank you for taking a chance! 💜
Preordering books is extremely important for helping a book appear on the shelf, period. In comics shops (super-thin margins, shop carries virtually all risk) if nobody preorders, sometimes the shop won’t order ANY copies for the shelf, but if 2 people preorder they might order 4 copies total, etc.

It's Jack Kirby's birthday! Celebrate by creating, discovering, inventing, whole universes using the power of your mind! Then go fight some nazis.
75 pages of rough pencils done on a still-unannounced new graphic memoir collab, plus 6 new X-Men commissions in progress! I’m painted into a corner for several years, so unfortunately I’m continuing to work 7 days a week, plus traveling through the fall for the release of DIANA. Plus life.
I was just talking to a friend today about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - new books every month, totally for free, for kids ages 1-5. My son was part of the program - this is a copy of the letter that came with his last book, right after his 5th birthday.
This is the last week to preorder signed copies of DIANA & new editions of COME AGAIN and FALL THROUGH! My copies should be arriving by this weekend. I have the trilogy as a bundle & 3 different DIANA prints, if you’re interested. Thanks— please spread the word! www.seemybrotherdance.org/shop
When your government says it’s planning to open multiple prisons that will house up to 3,000 children, it’s time to demand a new government. There is no context in which this is legitimate or acceptable.
The Trump regime is looking for immigrant detention camps big enough to hold up to 3,000 children. At an industry roundtable discussion, officials wouldn't say exactly where or when they need them, only that they’re expecting a “surge.” New from me in @prospect.org.
Honored to be a part of this incredible exhibit! And on the poster by Nate!

Maybe when we learn about a new movie from the exact same feed where we learn about a new global atrocity, we are gradually training ourselves to treat movies like global atrocities and treat global atrocities like movies
The fact that nearly every online debate or controversy results in some kind of brigading—people can’t just have opinions; they have to review-bomb and harass and call for books to be pulled from shelves—makes it impossible to have normal conversations on social media. Everything is a referendum.
Happy make-believe birthday to Jody Cordell from FALL THROUGH and DIANA, born in this fictional day in 1960 but plucked out of space-time in 1978 and mysteriously grafted into the early 1990s by her future beloved bandmate. (shhhh I will always have a perma-crush on Jody❤️🔥)
