Communities in the Long Middle Ages call for papers Following the success of the Long Middle Ages Seminar Series, hosted at the University of Leeds, we invite proposals for 20 minute papers at the Leeds International Medieval Congress (5-8 July 2027). This will be a space to establish connectivity between scholars working on a variety of disciplines within the traditional boundaries of the late antique, medieval and early modern periods. Considering the Long Middle Ages prompts us to think critically about the continuities and commonalities between historical periods and across disciplines. We welcome a range of research approaches including traditional methods and interdisciplinary methodologies and frameworks. Speakers are welcome to present their work in any format on historical, literary, archaeological, art historical, linguistic, or any other specialisations under the remit of the Long Middle Ages. Accepted speakers may also be asked to join a roundtable on the topic. Please send abstracts of c. 250 words, paper title and a short bio to thelongmiddleages@gmail.com by 4th September 2026.

The Long Middle Ages is back for another seminar series in Autumn 2026 at @leedsims.bsky.social ! If you are interested in participating, please send us an abstract (250 words) and a short bio to thelongmiddlesages@gmail.com by Monday 17th August! #medievalsky #thelongmiddleages

We are excited to announce that the Long Middle Ages, a seminar series for postgraduate students and early career researchers working on the Late Antique, Medieval, and Early Modern Periods, will be returning for a second series in Autumn 2026! We welcome submissions of 30 minute papers from postgraduates and early career researchers working in any discipline and on any topic related to the late antique, medieval and early modern periods. Papers will be followed by time for questions and further discussion. Seminars will commence in October 2026 and run on a fortnightly basis until mid-December. If you are interested in presenting a seminar, please send an abstract of no more than 250 words as well as a short biography to the organisers at thelongmiddleages@gmail.com by Monday 17 August 2026. All seminars will take place online. If you have any further questions, please do get in touch. We look forward to receiving your proposals!
