Now in my mid 50s, I've long accepted that, due to a genetic anomaly, I'm not effectively wired for team sports, and my efforts with soccer and basketball were relatively short-lived and non-enduring, but a great, genuine speech given in a sports context is still transcending to me.

I had to show my passport no less than 5 times at the Munich airport prior to departing to the US. Trivial. After being separated from my US citizen spouse in Global Entry, fingerprinted and asked for Green Card, a non-white/non-male immigration officer finished with “Welcome back”. Not trivial.
Ezra Klein is really out here making it seem like whiteness is some intellectually crippling shit.
Having lived/worked in the US for almost as long as her (although not a single day with questionable immigration status), I believe my grasp of the English language and its pronunciation is, uhm, a little more advanced than this. I might have also come up with a better speech (writer).

I loved that my Desert Storm veteran neighbor Mitchel took his Harley out today, blasted Go-go on the system and honked at me riding by as I mowed the lawn.
Nobody knows if/when the world will come to its senses again, but I'd be very much into the idea of doing a trip from Nome, AK to Chukotka, RU, setting my watch 20 hours ahead after a short-ish flight, and not experiencing any touristy bullshit in the process.
Good to know that supporting and advancing artists with disabilities doesn’t reflect “the nation's rich artistic heritage and creativity as prioritized by the President”.
It's an experience when you encounter somebody who is incapable of ever feeling any embarrassment, but really should 90% of the time.

My recent 53rd birthday has almost exactly halved my life between EU (AUT) and the US. And before I draw my last breath, I hope that they will grow to be close and even better allies again under the guidance of future US leaders.

I watched this while spending a week with family across the ocean. Among a few things, the tear she reportedly shed at the end of Barry O.'s farewell visit especially did it for me.
Went all the way from DC to Upper Austria to help with some school walk chaperoning.
A second one for good measure. My regular one is presumably arriving a day too late, so the official at the consular office and I laughed about it. Public service makes a difference in people‘s lives, and I have deep respect for the folks doing it across the Atlantic.

It's Fasching/Carnivale for a couple days, and I'm indulging in not giving a f_ck.
Rode bike down to Union Station. MARC train never really made it out of the station due to a problem ahead and got cancelled after 30 min of waiting. Rode back home and drove to work. Try that if you don’t have the means to bypass failing public transit
