Went to lend a hand at #CamphillDig26 today. While the team have yet to determine if the site's residents were Iron Age, Roman or Mediaeval, we now at least know that they were regular users of Glasgow's tram network. Congrats to fellow #SGHET volunteer Dougie for finding it in our pit.

Red, possibly Bakelite, token with Glasgow Coat of Arms, and "Glasgow Corporation Tramways"Other side says "2 Stage Token".

Those who know Glasgow’s Queen’s Park & Camphill well may recognise this excavation target, an improvised fire pit in a circle of boulders. Amazingly in this area we’ve found a possible posthole, a cobbled surface and - something potentially Neolithic! #CamphillDig26

Good News Friday: The historic Electric Cinema (1909) on Station Street in Birmingham has been officially added to the city’s Local Heritage List. The UK’s oldest working cinema before abruptly closing in Feb 2024, campaigners have opposed plans to demolish it for a 50 storey residential tower.

Flyer for the event featuring a photo of part of the remains of the Old Cathcart Parish Church tower and its surrounding wall topped with an old iron lamp stand (now lampless) made by the Saracen Foundry of W. MacFarlane & Co in Possilpark.

There's an incredible new tiled mural at Glasgow Central today, produced by Make It Glasgow. It recreates an advertising poster by Margaret & Frances Macdonald for Joseph Wright's Drooko Umbrella Co. #Glasgow
