It's Trans Day of Visibility, but a shout out to the invisible trans people - the ones who haven't realised, the ones who haven't shared it, and, sadly, the ones for whom it's just too dangerous to be yourself in public. I might not see you, but I know you're out there.
Late to comment. While good news, locally there are concerns that the money specifically given to A&B Council in 2022 for safer infrastructure on the Jura side (aka alternative to a slippy ladder on passenger only runs) has not been utilised & that work will be rolled into this, aka further delayed.
New £19m Jura ferry given the go-ahead - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8j9483gg8o #scothinews
This week, amidst what CalMac admits is "unprecedented" ferry disruption, I managed to get a package from Jura delivered to Mull in 24 hours. I feel like I have either unlocked a new level of islanding, or I need to buy a lottery ticket. #IslandLife #Ferry #Ferries
This drawing, by my cousin, won the primary school competition to celebrate the new ferry in 1998. With funding for a replacement #JuraFerry announced today, I would like to point out that Chris now designs boats for a living and I would be totally up for his tank / hovercraft hybrid. #Ferry #Jura

I'm sad that the word 'outdoorsy' has become associated with physical exertion. I am outdoorsy in that I like to be outside, to potter & meander in nature. @susiedentwords.bsky.social is there a word for this? Or should those of us who enjoy the gentler side of the outdoors try to reclaim outdoorsy?

Throwback to that time (1987) when the good folk of Whitehall thought that Jura would be the perfect location to dump nuclear waste and my grandad wrote a booklet about why this was a bad idea. Kinda puts those offshore windfarms into perspective. #Jura #IsleOfJura #NuclearWaste #LocalHistory

That's the PhD thesIs submitted. It was hard work and only possible with the support of many, many people. Not least of all my participants & the wider Scottish island community. You're the reason I do this research, and I am so grateful for the support you have shown me these last 4 yrs. Thank you.
