Reporting the latest updates from Downing Street and Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Here until Downing Street setup an official account. I also run @royalfamilyuk.bsky.social.

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "I don't care what anyone says, I believe we can end rough sleeping in Britain. Today is World Homeless Day, and I don't think anyone in this country should be sleeping rough on our streets. Certainly not tonight."

Statement from Downing Street: "Our Chief Mouser Larry is back at Downing Street following a minor operation, and is recovering well. He is feline much better but taking things one paw at a time. We are grateful to the vets for their outstanding care."

Larry the Cat returns to 10 Downing Street after a minor operation.

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "When I talk to young people about work, the same thing keeps coming up. Not a lack of ambition - a lack of a way in. One million young people in this country are not in education, work or training. That's around one in eight. And six in ten of them have never had a job at all."

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "It was a privilege to meet with Ukrainian veterans today at a military hospital in Kyiv. I’m proud that the patients here have been supported by a UK charity who have trained over 1,000 surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare workers."

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "Devastated to hear that two police officers have lost their lives while on duty in Cleveland this morning, as well as five members of the public. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of everyone involved, and with everyone at Cleveland Police.

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "We’ve got too used to seeing people sleeping in doorways and outside stations. It isn’t normal. And I won’t accept it. Today, we’re announcing that everyone sleeping rough this winter will be offered a route off the streets if they need it.

🗣️ PM Andy Burnham: "Awful to see homes and communities hit by fires across the country tonight as the heatwave continues. My thoughts are with everyone affected, particularly those who have been injured or forced from their homes, and with the firefighters who have been taken to hospital.
