Do you want to increase student engagement? Increase the opportunities for students to respond.
Erin King@erincking.bsky.social · 2y agoA person asked me how I keep my kindergarten students engaged during lessons. I told them I aim for high opportunities to respond. I counted my planned responses for yesterday's phonics lesson -- 40 responses in 15 minutes. Not quite high enough but that involved writing.
There was also much buzz about your wonderful books too! Our District is mostly using UFLI and your books have helped teachers (including me) figure out how to practically implement SoR in our classes. This was sitting on our table 🙂 during the session.
