"Cider. Gordy crunching through leaves." It's not so bad, really. There's football, too.
"Private enough." Flash smiles up at her a touch wolfishly. "I'm not that worried about offending some snobs."
"Yes and yes." Pressing a kiss to the top of her hand. "With a jacuzzi, even."
"Scoring us a rental place in the Hamptons for a week." He looks very chuffed with himself.
Early morning walk with Gordy, returning with coffee for @night-spider.bsky.social.
Flash, meanwhile? He's got a cool cloth strapped to the back of his neck. Wrapped around an ice pack. "Go for it, by all means."
It's too hot. @night-spider.bsky.social, it's time to break out the kiddie pool.
"Because I'm a veteran, or because of the chair?" She gets a little wink for that one. "Birds swearing -is- pretty funny. I like checking out the meerkats."
"Hand in hand on wheel," Flash jokes amicably up at her. "What's your favorite part of the zoo?" This is also a phase they've skipped just a tiny bit: the silly questions. What's your favorite color, how do you feel about pineapple on pizza?
"Pottery would be nice. Or glass blowing, if you need a little kick of danger." There's a smile in his eyes. "Could also just try to see more of the city. The parks, the zoo." Ooooh, the zoo would be fun.
No PTSD or depressive episodes, thankfully. Instead, Felicia's gonna have to put up with indecisiveness, doubt. Worrying. Faffing about, to borrow a transatlantic term. But he'll get there. "Is that a hint that we should be going out to more things you're interested in?"
"Please, if anyone is going to have a complex about duty it's me." Flash breaths a laugh in to her collarbone, shaking his head ruefully. "I don't want to change a thing about you, Felicia." A slight beat. "Other than how you keep moving the coffee pot." This pause stretches out longer.
Her frank honesty gets a smile from him, as ever. "No, I totally get that, Felicia. I don't want to do that to you. That's kinda WHY I'm bringing it up. It might take me longer than I want to get it together, and I don't want you to think I'm putting you in that position any longer
"Can you handle me fumbling around for a bit before I figure it out?" It's an earnest question. He knows it's going to be frustrating for her to watch him flail around.
"Mhm." Flash finds her fingers, interlacing them with his. "It's just trying to figure out where to start." It makes it easier to shrink the size of the mountain he feels like he's staring it down. Makes it a little closer to a molehill. "That make any sense?"
"I know." Flash's smile up at Felicia is much more earnest now, a loving things. "I'd figured it out in the micro. I treat myself good, I stay out of stuff that won't treat me good." He drums his fingers on the armrest of his chair. "Just tricky trying to take that to a macro level, I guess?"
There's a smile in his eyes, but it's not all earm humor. There's a self-aware sadness that resonates through his bones. "I like where I'm at, anyways." Which is something he wouldn't have been able to say not so long ago, sitting in this chair like a broken husk.
"You know one of the reasons I fell for you?" That's not especially charged language- imagine how many people fall for her every day. "It's because you know exactly who you are." Took awhile for him to understand that isn't always a good thing. But it's something he's missing.
"Well, I's be hsppy to bounce some ideas off you, but this is kinda bigger picture stuff." The type of stuff she tends to avoid.
"More or less." Flash reaches up to frame her face in the palm of a hand. "Trying to figure out my gameplan a little bit, still."
