Re-sharing - we now have less than 48 hours to make sure everyone we know is enrolled. This week I have texted my ex, annoyed my massage therapist, Uber driver and everyone around me to make sure they are enrolled & have their details up to date. #nzpol

I've been again exploring ways to make public information and data a bit more accessible. Enrolment and turnout is a big issue this election and a lot of organisations have been working to get as many people enrolled as possible. #nzpol So we made: vote.inzight.co.nz

💯 but also - take a look at the Tāmaki Makaurau results for a snapshot of the likely bias in these numbers - 17.5% of Māori (per Te Whata, 2023 census) own their home in Auckland, one of the polling items - but 43% in the poll said they did. This is where the bias is in the poll

Whakaata Māori-Curia has now polled all seven Māori electorates. On the candidate vote, Te Pāti Māori leads in four (Tāmaki Makaurau, Hauraki-Waikato, Waiariki, Te Tai Hauāuru), Labour in two (Ikaroa-Rāwhiti, Te Tai Tonga) and the Greens in one, Te Tai Tokerau.

I can't believe they have banned jokes from our project titles. As an experienced reviewer and examiner (and public joke maker), someone being able to use humour appropriately about a subject can point to their expertise and how deeply they have thought about a topic.

I've been shocked by a lot of what's happened to our science system over the last three years but banning puns in proposal titles is a new low, surely.

Screencap of a section from MBIE's 'Programmes Proposal Template – 2027 Transition Research Fund' specifying that titles of proposals may not include acronyms, abbreviations, 'humorous "tabloid" style titles', or puns.

Ngā mihi Andrew - terrifying being on with the towering intellect that is Donna Cormack & similarly, with Tahu Kukutai as the host! I mainly focused on how the census relates to the Māori electorates and has great constitutional importance. So many complex issues and an awesome series from Te Ngira

This discussion on Tuesday, about the future of the census, was awesome. Well worth watching. Donna Cormack's contribution on the power of the state in surveilling us, and how it forms part of ongoing colonialism is great. As was @laragreaves.bsky.social www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LxJ... #nzpol

We made an app! There is fairly widespread concern that turnout and enrolment will be low this election, so we made an app to help make enrolment and turnout data more accessible for communities. All data are drawn from the NZ Electoral Commission's website. turnout.inzight.co.nz
