It was a rude awakening today when a bat flew over my face, in my own bedroom, at 4.30am! Totally worth getting up at that time to make it down for this really important meeting of the National Maternity and Neonatal Collective with the Health Secretary.

'Survival should not be the only measure of good maternity care'
Interesting to hear the legal side of what happens after a traumatic birth, especially that explanation and prevention of future harm are usually the goals. The loss of trust between families and perinatal healthcare workers is such a factor.
Really helpful simple tips from Laura Spence about working with neurodivergent people during birth. A good reminder that reasonable adjustments are a legal RIGHT.
I've managed to score a seat by the illustrator. I LOVE seeing what they produce from conferences and workshops, and have managed to use them at a couple of events I've run. I always wondered how they made their drawings so neat in pen though. I was today years old when I learnt it was white pens.
I'm loving the talks about being disabled (by perinatal services) during pregnancy, birth, and infant feeding. And it's so nice to be at a perinatal event with a BSL interpreter. Thanks so much for your voices and for being willing to share knowledge @marietidball.bsky.social and Laura Spence.

Today I was giving evidence at the National Maternity and Neonatal Review LGBTQIA+ evidence panel in person in London. There were academics, organisations and people with lived experience of the maternity and neonatal systems, all coming together to improve care for LGBTQIA+ families
In the last 10 days I've had work conferences, seminars or similar things in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Edinburgh, and today London. Some of it has been exciting, some exhausting (especially when I turned up at the wrong 'Edinburgh Central Travelodge' - why would you have 2 with the same name?)
Loving this presentation for personal reasons. As someone who experienced an early menopause, but having so far received zero healthcare relating to it, and having been repeatedly told I'm 'too young' for HRT, I agree that it's a healthcare area with massive need.
Today I'm at SRIP conference, with our 'preview' poster on the top 20 priorities for LGBTQIA+ Perinatal Care. Huge thanks to all those involved, especially James Lind Aliiance for funding the work.
