Delivering common-sense, common-ground solutions for Maryland’s 6th District in Congress. Official account.

Today, we celebrate the 61st anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. Trump promised he would never touch them. He broke that promise. I’m fighting to protect and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid so every family, senior, and person with a disability can get the care they deserve.

As we've seen with Trump’s rejection of FEMA aid for Western Maryland, his partisan retribution and pettiness hurts all working families. Our President should be the President for all communities - irrespective of party, circumstance or zip code. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...

It's 3 times harder for blue states to get disaster funding under Trump

The president has approved just 23 percent of blue state requests for disaster aid, compared to 89 percent for red states.

Another big week in Congress. I voted NO on the Republican budget resolution and YES on the bipartisan Iran War Powers Resolution. No endless war. No SAVE America Act voter suppression. Congress—not one president—should decide when America goes to war.

One of the best parts of this job is being out in the community with the people I serve. It was an honor to join Asbury United Methodist Church's Annual Community Block Party and present a Congressional Certificate recognizing their incredible commitment to our neighbors.

This speech is not about election security—it's about laying the groundwork to question any result Donald Trump doesn't like. Our elections are administered by dedicated public servants, protected by strong safeguards, and deserve the confidence of the American people.

The right to vote was never freely given. It was hard won over generations, by people who marched, organized, and faced violence in order to secure it. The President’s speech tonight has again made clear: this work is unfinished.

Just days after the death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, another person was killed by ICE in Biddeford, Maine. This pattern of lawlessness and impunity cannot continue. No body cameras. Another life lost. ICE must be held accountable, & the American people deserve the truth. Accountability cannot wait.

Fatal shooting involving ICE officers under investigation in Maine

A local advocacy group identified the victim as a 26-year-old Colombian man who was authorized to work in the United States. DHS has not yet commented on the incident.

Nonpartisan, independent assistance from the EAC helps our communities run secure and efficient elections. Firing EAC commissioners just months before the midterm elections is just another step to inject political interference into our democratic processes.

Trump has just fired the 3 remaining members of the Election Assistance Commission. This leaves the independent, bipartisan group without leadership ahead of midterm elections.

First Renée Good. Then Alex Pretti. Now Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. How many more lives before there is accountability? ICE has not publicly presented any evidence to support their account of this tragic event.

Three men who were in the vehicle alongside Lorenzo Salgado Araujo are contesting the Department of Homeland Security’s account of the fatal shooting.

When disaster strikes, Americans deserve a President—not a petty politician settling scores. After Western Maryland’s devastating floods, Trump denied FEMA aid to Maryland while neighboring West Virginia received assistance. And now, he’s doing it again!

Trump denies disaster aid for 4 Democratic-led states

The move deepens what Democrats say is the president's politicization of federal emergency management decisions.

Another reminder that President Trump is not above the law. Today’s ruling rejected his attempt to put his personal interests ahead of one of America’s great public institutions. That’s a win for accountability and the rule of law.

Appeals court denies Trump's request to halt removal of his name from Kennedy Center

A panel of appeals court judges has rejected a request by President Trump to stay a lower court's order that his name be removed from the Kennedy Center.
