Smalls was a MAW kid a few yrs ago. During our day out today, we decided to grab lunch at Texas Roadhouse. They're partnering with MAW in honor of the first wish granted back in 1980. She asked to donate so she can help other sick kids' wishes come true as well. Y'all should consider donating, too.

A ginger haired girl wearing pink headphones and a maroon jacket is leaning over a wooden restaurant table. She's using a red pen to sign our family name on a Make-a-Wish donation star. There's a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup sitting in front of her on the table. A ginger haired little girl, wearing pink headphones, tortoise print glasses frames, and a maroon top is grinning from ear to ear. She's proudly holding up a blue Make-a-Wish donation star for the camera to capture her first donation to The Make-a-Wish Foundation. A potluck girl is sleeping in a hospital bed. She is covered in a pink cupcake themed fleece blanket and her superhero cape. The cape is royal blue and adorned with a yellow lightning bolt and red 'S'.

A week ago: Celebrating Tiny's one year "no hospital stay-versary" with her special cake, and rejoicing ensued. Today: She's back in the hospital with Flu B, which isn't normally a problem for most. Tiny, however, doesn't handle these viral illnesses well. It never gets easier. Never.

Little girl wearing a pastel tie-dye sweater is enjoying the first piece of her celebration cake. Little girl sleeping on her right side. She's wearing a grey t-shirt, hugging her beloved, tattered blankie. Her tablet and stuffed pup "Bolt" are also tucked in with her. Her cheeks and lips are flushed from her fever, and small locks of her hair are resting across her forehead.

In one week exactly, it will have been 365 days since Smalls was admitted for a hospital stay. She's 12.5 years old, ama has never gone longer than 7 months without an admission. This has been her own personal goal, and she's so excited to reach it. She wants to celebrate, so how should we

Tiny: I want to adopt a "squishy" reborn baby for my birthday. Me: *looks up full silicone doll prices at the doll store an hour from home* Y'ALL! $350-$595!!! Can you guess who's NOT getting one of those dolls tomorrow? We'll stick with the non-mortgage rate dolls, thanks.

Bedtime used to be a nightmare here: tears and tantrums nightly. A few months ago, Tiny told me something I'll never forget. She said, "I need your snuggles before bed because you help my body and brain relax." What an honor it is to be her comfort and peace. There are no more tears at bedtime.

Little girl, freshly showered and wearing a baggy jammy shirt, is propped on a stack of pillows. She's peacefully sleeping, gently holding her reborn doll upright in her hands.

Tiny's 12th birthday is in three days. I have feelings about this, and they're all sorts of conflicting. This baby loving, science experiment performing, craft creating, chicken mama is going to do such great things in this world.

Little girl with reddish hair is sitting criss-cross on top of a giant unicorn Squishmallow. Her left hand is holding back her hair as her elbow is propped on the book she's reading. She's surrounded by books and is intently reading a sweet note from the person who gifted her that specific book.

Tomorrow is the day we will watch our boy walk across the stage to receive his high school diploma. School has always been a struggle for him, so this day is extra special for our family. We're so proud of him and look forward to his career as a welder and the life he will build for himself.

Irony is a bitch. I spent the last 3 days in DC advocating to protect Medicaid. Today, I'm sitting with my daughter in the hospital. She's receiving multiple iv meds to treat her lupus. Medicaid helps her get what she needs to be healthy, but the asshats in DC think she's a drain on society.

A hospital clinic room with floor-length curtains is pictured behind an iv pump and pole. There are 3 bags of medications hanging from the pole.

I’m not going to cave on tariffs! But also these are a negotiation! But also these are permanent! We need these tariffs now! But also I will pause them and maybe turn them back on!

Senate confirming Mehmet Oz to be in charge of my girls' Medicaid benefits is exactly the gut punch I would have liked to avoid today. Unfortunately, Republicans don't value their lives or their access to medical care. Fuck them and everyone who voted to put Trump back in office.

Weather: It's going to be a beautiful and glorious day. Definitely spend all day out in the garden. Me: Plans for a great gardening day. 3:30AM..... My stupid body: Nah, fam. You get the GI bug lottery. Good luck blowing your nose without running to the bathroom for the next 24 hours.

If you're in PA and happen to be unfortunate enough to have Dave Mccormick as your Senator, he's supposedly holding a phone town hall right now. The number is (833) 946-1546. You should also call and let him know where we stand and what we expect from our elected officials.

On today's episode of "How Can They Screw Over Americans Even More?" Let's plan to close 47 social security offices this year and then demand recipients verify their identities in person. This will disproportionately affect minorities, the elderly, and those with disabilities.
