I read that ICE was being kicked out of Minneapolis budget hotels and thought it wasn't fair. But then I remembered how gross it is when yahoos show up to the breakfast buffet in their bare feet...

Writer. Economic Development Guy. Great thinker. Philosopher-King. Compulsive liar. And decent hair, often enough, although that might be another lie.

You have to learn from your mistakes, and the White House has learned. For example, they're moving all future highly-classified intelligence chats from Signal to Facebook Messenger.
Me to Conan O’Brien: “Say ‘YEAH’ one… more… time…” #OscarsSoYEAH
The rightwing rage about Michelle Obama skipping the inauguration is bizarre. Are the memories and/or intellects of Trump and his supporters that deficient? Really? I don't know what kind of drugs they're on, but I wish they'd share.
There’s a young black woman singing IF I WERE A RICH MAN on my 6 train. That’s some powerful alternative casting.
His fellow Republicans are torturing Mike Johnson. Tomorrow's NYT headline: "Democrats Plunge House into Chaos."
Every. Single. Election. This is what happens when your children don't understand geography or civics.
Land doesn’t vote. Stop pretending it does.
Oh no, Donald! Please, whatever you do, don’t get rid of the electoral college! The libs would be owned so hard!
Up late last night, Trump falsely suggested presidential elections are not exclusively based on the Electoral College. A stunning display demonstrating a lack of basic Constitutional understanding.
It's sort of a strange year for Pennsylvania McDonald's franchises, isn't it?
Mitch's tears taste so sweet. The tears of hypocrisy and FAFO always taste sweet.
Boo fucking hoo.
"Starting in January, he said, his wife will sue any news organization that refers to 'Y.M.C.A.' as a gay anthem." Challenge accepted. Starting on January 1, I will refer to "YMCA" as a gay anthem All. The. Time.
Village People singer defends Trump's use of 'Y.M.C.A.,' says song isn't a 'gay anthem'
Victor Willis said the disco classic has “benefited greatly” from the president-elect’s use and threatened to sue news outlets that refer to it as a “gay anthem.”

My nephew is conducting a science experiment and my partner Brady is the lab rat. Let’s hope this works, because the world isn’t ready for Super-Mutant Electro Brady.
Thanks, City and State NY! I thought they were going to recognize everyone who had ever been on the "Responsible 100" list, so it's quite special (and sort of embarrassing*) to be in this group of amazing people. * - Obviously not so embarrassing I won't let anyone know about it, of course.

I just blocked a troublemaking MAGAt and it felt sooooo gooood.
I'm loving how Rep-elect Sarah McBride is totally ignoring Rep. Nancy Mace's efforts to become relevant by inciting trans panic. Small people like Nancy Mace aren't worthy of our respect. Or our time.
Is Nancy Mace on Bluesky? Because these days I'm trying to do my online hanging in Nancy Mace-Free Zones.
Over the last few weeks, I've had to deal with an Annual Meeting and audit, volunteer commitments, family issues, overwhelming idiocy on both the personal and professional levels, and Cher. A documentary on TV tonight about the Manson Family was healing. Let's leave it at that.
I'm old-fashioned enough to appreciate sobriety, incrementalism, and precedent in the judiciary, but I'm laughing my ass off as Schumer and the Biden Administration are pushing through lifetime judicial nominees like crazy before the GOP is in power. Enjoy your new judges, Donald and Mitch.
If the next Administration is going to arrest and deport undocumented workers, they sure as hell better arrest, fine, and - if necessary - imprison the employers. This is a two-way street.
Mitzi Gaynor died last month at 93. Here she is almost 70 years ago in "Anything Goes." Was the Hays Code still in force? Because the line: "Good authors, too, Who once used better words, Now only use THREE-letter words, hurts my soul. (It was "four." Sorry, my new Bluesky fam. I get like this.)

Each month I host a reading for The Publishing Triangle featuring both established and upcoming LGBTQ writers. Idols of the Queer Lit canon and emerging voices alike. Last night's reading was great. See it here. If you'd like to be part of a future reading, drop me a line.

My new theory is that Matt Gaetz's nomination was announced to make Tulsi Gabbard's nomination look normal. Sort of like how when he nominates the QAnon Shaman to run Transportation tomorrow, the Gaetz thing looks normal. It makes sense, in a demented way.
People who are all over the sidewalk staring at their phones and forcing me to duck and weave like an NFL running back when I’m just trying to make it to the mailbox and back are quickly becoming my Villain Origin Story.
