Trump: "Very importantly, vaccinations for hepatitis B, covid-19, and influenza, among others, are no longer recommended for all children"

It's not appropriate for cis people to say that trans people are too alarmed, or that certain trans writers are irresponsibly causing trans people to think the sky is falling. I want to take some time in this 🧵 to write personally about how my skies have fallen.

"These conditions are not just uncomfortable — they are dangerous" In a recent opinion piece for @sltrib.com pediatricians describe how fear-based immigration policies are harming children. Expanded immigration actions limit children and families’ access to vital preventive care and services.

Voices: Fear-based immigration policy harms children. As pediatricians, we see it every day.

“Detention settings are, by their nature, high-risk environments for health,” write four Utah pediatricians in an op-ed.

#BlackHistoryMonth fact of the day Anarcha, Lucy & Betsey were enslaved women in Alabama that Dr. J Marion Sims experimented without consent or anesthesia. Anarcha was experimented on the most, >30 times. They are known as the "Mothers of Gynecology" for what they endured. tinyurl.com/yfmd3vtw

Immigrants have paid more in taxes than they have received in benefits every single year for the past 30 years, according to new analysis from Cato. Remember this the next time Trump and his racist lackeys call immigrants "freeloaders."

"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants. Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."

Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3 www.science.org/content/arti...

Today is World Prematurity Day - a reminder of the challenges facing newborns & families. The U.S. has one of the highest preterm birth rates among developed nations & ranks poorly in maternal & infant health outcomes. It's time to address systemic inequities & improve care for every mom & baby.

The Dodgers would be nothing and nobody without immigrants. They won this game - and this entire series - because of immigrants. In that sense, they represent the absolute best that this country has to offer. I hope they remember all this when the White House invitation arrives.

Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.
