One thing I like about the state of affairs is people gaining a lot more appreciation for the power of local government. P.S. You can run for local government often solely on stopping something the incumbent got paid to support.

‘In July alone, more than 150 towns and counties passed temporary or permanent bans on data centers, many adopted in emergency meetings. That brings the nationwide total to more than 500.’ www.theinformation.com/articles/dat...

I check Facebook 1-2x a month for family stuff. Turns out a few days ago my dad made a long post begging for understanding about trans people by his fellow boomers. Last paragraphs are below. Dad doesn’t always get it 100% right. He doesn’t need to. He loves and defends me; that’s all that matters

H. I have a trans daughter. She struggled to learn who she was.
She finally " got it" several years ago and has transitioned into a beautiful adult woman. I've seen the struggle up close. She has been mocked and beaten for being herself. I love her.
Personally I dont think I have the strength of character to do as she has, should I have been in that circumstance.
G. And finally..l just had to get this off my chest as I read, see and overhear uneducated, bigoted posts, stories, and conversation. Here's a testimony of a parent of a beautiful child..there are more of us than you know.
Hope this helps.
If I offends you..buh bye.
If you learned something..youre welcome.
IYKYK. PEACE AND LOVE ARE THE ONLY ANSWERS.

I kept walking by this jerk chicken place near my place thinking that their AI poster meant that their chicken would be cheap and bad. Finally caved in as I smelled it on the way home. It was the best I'd had in a long time.

If you're following us to play a beautiful, Postdiluvian adventure made by a small Canadian studio with the right balance of darkness and levity.... Today is your day. Please give these games a shot.

Toronto devs are having their own "Barbenheimer" moment today. Congrats to @softrains.bsky.social & @kittencupstudio.bsky.social on the launches of Ambrosia Sky & Capy Castaway! One's a melancholic sci-fi clean 'em up, the other an adorable animal adventure, & both are absolutely worth your time. 🍁

this bit from the latest deltarune newsletter honestly does a stunningly good job of explaining why I felt like experiencing Homestuck as it came out was the ideal way to do so and why it will never be the same again

The speculative art, stories, and theories that you come up with while the game is still ongoing will forever be special, because this is the only time such things can EVER be created. All of you are creating a time capsule unique to this single fleeting moment in time, and I think that’s something to be incredibly proud of. Isn’t it great that you’re here right now, playing this thing as it comes out?

After 15 years of people only caring about the externally visible parts of my code and trying to convince them that the inside matters.... It's very weird to hear the same people be loudly vocal about the inside of it.

Doctor: The AI is giving you psychosis, perhaps you should ground yourself by learning some facts from YouTube Science Man YouTube Science Man: but doctor,

Regardless of what the future holds, the lashing of Hank Green based on a single phrase and his own self admissions will be a glowing sociological artifact of the present moment.
