Easy one. This incredibly grim childhood body-horror story is still unsettling when I think about it as an adult <shiver>

Honestly their culture may be more sophisticated than ours at this point
Scientists observed a family of pygmy raccoons near a beach club in Cozumel, Mexico, learning from one another how to craft balls from paper, an indication that the animals have a culture.

Plus does she not know it's Koolaid? I know this is trivial, but has she been under a rock her entire life that she's not aware that it's spelled with a K?
Our country has become the geometric fucking epicenter of a fascist typhoon of shit and blood, in part due to her repeated acts of partisan sabotage, and as expected, Jill Stein once again draws her guns and shoots the people marching next to her

We haven’t had an episode for a few weeks, and this new episode helps explain why. With our old friends George and Traci, we talk about aging parents, caregiving and preparing for end of life—and I share a little about the journey we’ve been on with my dad. theycallusbruce.libsyn.com/they-call-us...
COYOTE VS ACME manages to make Coyote an incredibly sympathetic protagonist, turns a cartoon caricature of Peter Lorre into a romantic hero and casts Lana Condor to play Will Forte’s niece without explanation needed, so it’d be a win even if it weren’t hilarious
The fact that the most maxed-out mainstream phone (iPhone Duo 2TB at $3199 retail no subsidy) will sit at about 3X the *average* price of a phone means smartphones actually have a flatter mid-to-top pricing curve than most goods, to be honest.
My friend owns an electronics repair shop and it is absolutely insane that the average phone is verging on $1000 in the US.
Consumer tech (and cars) are the last qualified indulgence of the middle class. We can definitely talk about how both impact consumer credit in scary ways, but it feels unfair to be using a $2000 phone as THE exemplar of luxury overreach when folks out there gleefully drop six digits on watches.
And I know this is an apologia for tech because I am, admittedly, a gadget addict, but the return on investment for a productive tool is so much greater than the pure luxury goods that still fly off shelves and that truly exemplify the Gilded Age. Like, I write/research on my phone now sans laptop!

The reality is that most people “buying” this phone will be doing so thru a heavily subsidized/financed wireless subscription, amortized over two to three years. Buying a phone is now much more like buying a car than say, jewelry. It’s not quite like walking out of Prada with a $5K Galleria bag.

Yes, $2000 is expensive as hell, but there have been iPhones at that price point the last two years. The Duo *starts* at $1999, but it has all new tech, two batteries, two screens (one being 2x the size of most prior iPhones) and an extra camera. And it’s about the same price as its Samsung peer.

It’s such a perfect example of the Gilded Age have/have not world we’re living in right now where people are suffering more then ever but Apple thinks it’s reasonable to release a $2,000 phone.

New England also New America as well as New Jersey LOL
Mar a Lago will, by law, have to be renamed “Sea-to-Lake.” Honestly De Santis is petty enough to do it.
he's also gonna have to rename basically 50% of all towns in every single state. like shit. here alone in Missouri we got Mexico, Montserrat, St Louis, Versaillles..
In fact, “America” shouldn’t be named after some fruity Italian dude, it should have a masculine-ass MAGA name, like “Chad.” Except there already is a “shithole country” named Chad, so we’d have to take that over and rename it “New Chad.” ….Does (New) Chad have oil?
So if Trump’s goal is to eliminate all foreign references from American place names, “New York” should also be “New America,” “Los Angeles” should be “The Angels,” and and “San Francisco” should be “Saint Frankie.”

It works both ways! We have seen incredibly progressive Dems win primaries, and we’ve seen centrist Dems pushed left with bold grassroots action and the support of high-placed progressives like Bernie, AOC and Warren. But letting Republicans win more races and plant more judges will kill us all.
The left edge has to embrace a theory of change that begins with nominating the most progressive Dems possible, pivoting to support whichever Dems get nominated, then pushing them left once elected It’s not about “lesser of the two evils”; it’s about *picking opponents over whom you have leverage*

The Sunrise Movement was incredibly effective at pressuring Democrats, but has had zero success in stopping or slowing the climate-crushing actions of Trump and his toadies.
