Hey you know there is no cut off age for trick or treating right? (I am 100% happy to see you come to my door regardless of age. And no you don’t have to say anything - or make eye contact - because eye contact sucks anyway)
Me: *big sigh* Husband: *looks over, concerned* “You all right?” Me: “I’m fine. I just finished a really good book and the sequel doesn’t come out until summer.” 😂😭
It deeply disturbs me how many otherwise liberal and leftist people are willing to just accept a future where only the children of the wealthy can pursue the arts. That’s bullshit. We can do better than that.
If you want more Patrick Stewarts, then you publicly fund the arts and learning programs, so that working class kids can find their way into making a career in them.
Three things to do today: 1. Don't shop at Target 2. Don't shop at Starbucks 3. Remember that overconsumption in the name of self care isn't cute Love, Women's Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
Your 401(k) match at work is not "free money." It's part of your compensation package, just like your vacation days. If you aren't contributing at least to the match AND you aren't taking all your PTO, your company is acquiring you at a discount from what they agreed to.
US media: "Bolsonaro has traveled to the US after the election." US right-wing media: "Bolsonaro has escaped political prosecution" ✍️Actual journalists: “Bolsonaro has fled Brazil as he faces multiple criminal investigations, including into money laundering.”
Three things to do today: 1. Check your subscriptions and cancel any that you haven’t used in 45 days or more 2. Set up an automatic transfer to savings in the amount of the cancelled subscription 3. Drink an extra glass of water Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
I’m consistently surprised by the amount of community organizations that exist I’d never be aware of if I didn’t find a booth or table at some public event. If you want go get involved in making the world a better place, I can assure you, there are ways to start without building from the ground up.
Three things to do today: 1. $10 to mutual aid or your local food bank 2. Clean out one shelf of your fridge (you don’t have to do the whole thing at once!) 3. Sunscreen every day, even the cloudy ones Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
Another day with no money spent ✔️ Spite saving. It works.
VACCINES SHOULD BE FREE Even from a completely capitalist point of view, it makes sense, ffs.
What if Netanyahu actually lost That would be cool
No one should ever have enough money to be able to spend $366 million in a single election cycle.
Three things to do today: 1. Transfer $10 to savings (in a HYSA!) 2. Clean out your wallet or purse (you probably don’t need those old receipts any longer) 3. Eat one extra serving of fruit or vegetables Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
No money spent today ✔️ Starve the fucking oligarchs. Save your money out of spite.
I’m actually impressed that Kash Patel still has a job
Three things to do today: 1. Unsubscribe / unfollow two accounts or marketing emails that make you feel bad about yourself or want to spend money 2. Find two things to give away on Buy Nothing, or to someone who know who would appreciate them more
One of the most powerful and accessible forms of protest is not spending money.
What would you do with your days if money was no object?
Three things to do today: 1. Spend no money with mega corporations 2. Turn your phone all the way off and back on again (your computer too, if you haven’t done it recently) 3. Sunscreen on the backs of your hands Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
No money spent today ✅ Starve the oligarchs. It’s the only language they understand. (Save your money out of spite)
“Voting will not save us from harm, but silence will surely damn us all.” - @staceyabrams.com
Three things to do today: 1. Read up on index funds, and then explain back to me what they are in 1-2 sentences 2. Read for joy (audiobooks, graphic novels, A03, they all count) 3. Go drink a full glass of water, right now Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
We have just TWO spots left for WPF Insiders this round! One of my favorite parts? We’ve had folks in their 20s and into their mid 60s join. Intergenerational conversations are the best.
I don’t actually know if we can vote out way out of fascism at this point. But I do know that not even trying is a loser move.
The point of more money isn’t to have more money. The point of having more money saved and invested is so that your life is better and that the lives of your community are better, too. It’s not just to have more money.
We will not be silenced. There are 340 MILLION of us and a couple dozen broligarchs. They are terrified of free speech and our collective power. As they should be.
Update: without explanation, and after being suspended for more than an hour during peak mobilization time, Zuckerberg's Instagram restored the No Kings account but we still lack admin access. More to come. Rest assured we will not stop organizing against this regime and its collaborators.
Protesters in Ocean Beach, San Fransisco made a human banner on No Kings Day today to encourage people to vote early for the most consequential midterm elections in US history. Beautiful.
Three things to do today: 1. Eat the food you have at home. Hay comida en la casa. 2. Call (or message) your internet provider to negotiate a better rate 3. Do something analog that brings you joy (and gets you off screens for a bit) Love, Women’s Personal Finance, not WomenSPF
