If I outwardly say that you're a piece of shit based on how you've treated me and my friends, and you say some cringe main character shit like "Fuck y'all for assuming shit w/o getting to know me", then it's fair to say that I hit the target on point when I chose to stop fucking with you. Period.
If there is any bit of advice I'd give to newer artists it would be STOP listening to artists that tell you that using references is cheating. You will likely get to a point where you no longer need to reference, but until then, USE THEM! They are SO helpful.
