Neither green nor particularly leafy. UK. She/her.
Today, we are asking the eternal questions: is the neighbour on the other side of my party wall allowing her children to tap dance on it (answer: very possibly); and, how soon do their schools go back (answer: Sept 3).
In a fit of "I'm 50, I should have a skincare routine" I bought some supposedly hypoallergenic, ultra sensitive skin products and after 3 days I feel like someone set my skin on fire. I'm not even using anything with active ingredients. 💀 😢
Someone in my neighbourhood has given a small child a tin whistle. I feel like this contravenes the Geneva Convention somehow.
I have just remembered I have to go vote today! (for Andy Burnham's replacement)
I have sooooo many things to say about Sewing Bee!! @zebrapig.bsky.social
I am mildly baffled as to how I've ended up on the South Anna Elementary school PTA e-mail subscriber list. It's Spirit Week merch week, apparently. 🤷♀️
I don't suppose anyone thought there was a risk they'd end up playing a British player on Centre Court this year. The crowd goes past partisan into just delirious. #wimbledon
In other (unrelated) news, there is a festival being held within "vaguely audible" distance of my parents' house and the headliner is Jason Donovan. 🤨
Things have been kind of fucked up for me for the last several weeks, and today all of my pland to unfuck everything came to fruition in a single day. I am so relieved I could pass out. Also they are now saying we WON'T have another heatwave next week where I am, and I am DELIGHTED about that.
Last night I slept on my parents' sofa because they have a/c in 2 rooms (their room, the living room). But Bear sleeps in the living room at night, and he decided the most helpful thing to do was be a snuggle!Bear all night. A+ snuggler, but D- for insisting on heatwave snuggles.
The pain of wanting to re-read something and not being able to recall the title of the fic or the author. 😢
Bear: I need to go outside! Us: OK, but just for a minute. Bear: *pees, rushes back into the a/c and lies on a tiled floor panting* It is TOO HOT, I do not wish to be outside. Also Bear, 10 minutes later: WALK. It is time for a walk! Us: Too hot for walking! Bear: WALKWALKWALKWALKWALKWALKWALK
We have returned home early from vacation because of the weather. :(
In "English village names are hilarious" today we drove past Diddlebury (pronounced Del-bree). 😆
Looking at houses for sale in my neighbourhood, and I can't decide if it's funnier that these sellers have put a giant weird sculpture in their kitchen or that they hung a heart-shaped wooden sign that says "Bless this house with love and laughter" on it.
I guess AO3 being down will at least force me to get started on my washing. 😐
The last few days have not been really interesting enough to warrant a post, so here are 4 days together (day 24 to 27 of 100).
Voted! Never a great turn out where I live for local elections, but I don't think I've ever seen so few names crossed off the roll.
Today and the next few days will be glass objects, starting with these green bottles. 21/100
Surely the most cursed object I could ever paint. Day 20/100.
Day 15/100. That’s the end of painting fabric for the moment, even though I don’t like how this specific painting turned out.
@schmoedraws.bsky.social Your book arrived this morning and I love it so much! 🤩
