We're live! In 10 days, expect Directing 101. For now, enjoy Marketing 101. We're going to cover a lot of 101 in this one: store pages, wishlists, KPIs, setting clear and measurable goals, press lists & releases, influencers, social media, ads, timelines, and some basic community management.

The legit most unrealistic part about Primer, the ‘04 sci-fi thriller, is that two tech bros sat on their invention for a few years because they wanted to understand the implications of their technology and not release it to world too soon. And yes, it also includes building a Time Machine.

I am one of the most experienced and hardest working writers in this business. I have penned six reviews since the end of May and had nine more on my schedule this year. I was actively reviewing Tokon when the lay offs came down.

This isn't about games but same for games. Please don't let anyone tell you you're doing creative things "wrong", including myself. You're not here to make my things, or their things, you're here to make your things. Feedback is just another perspective - believe in yourself.

When I say that you have to be leery of who critiques your art, your life will depend on it. The wrong person giving you critique will have you fighting with your own creativity, leaving you mentally unwell. Especially if you don't have enough people around you encouraging your art

Game failure? Layoffs Game success? Layoffs Game delayed? Layoffs Game delivered? Layoffs Game announced? Layoffs Game unannounced? Layoffs Game good? Layoffs Game bad? Layoffs Game AI? Layoffs Game no-AI? Layoffs Game hated? Layoffs Game beloved? Layoffs Money cares more for layoffs than games.

Tip for level designers: Get one of these, go to a cafe, and relax. Many of my best level design ideas existed on paper first. Tip for notepad manufacturers: Many level designers would be excited about hexagon patterns instead of square grids.

Folks, turns out the "Would you still like it if AI was banned" guy was doing a very poorly phrased thought experiment. I'm super OK dunking on anyone suggesting we "need" AI but I'm less OK dunking on someone wondering what this means for our world. So with my apologies, I deleted that post.

Months of work, a lifetime of learning, but the Levelling The Playing Field 101 Courses program launches right now. Eight €40 courses launching 10 days apart, I aim to make the critical less-spoken parts of indie gamedev accessible away from expensive visa-locked hotel bars. courses.ramiismail.com
