I absolutely LOVE this. Christian Bale spent roughly 17 years fighting to make this happen. This week, his foster-care village opened in Palmdale, California: 12 homes built specifically to help keep siblings together when they enter foster care.

Observe: MS Teams accurately transcribing the words I say then putting spell-check lines under them because I clearly made the word up.

The afternoon here in the UK when all this was unfolding on the news from America is etched into my soul. I still remember so clearly the conversations I had, getting texts from my sister, watching the footage over and over on the tv when I got home from school.

PSA to researchers: @zotero.org on your computer and on your iPad is an amazing set up. Save an article from a journal? Ping, there it is on your iPad. You can highlight it, scribble all over it, absolutely brilliant. And unlike the millions of papers I’ve printed over the years, you can’t lose it.

Might be naive but is it not possible for us to hold AI to Asimov’s three laws of robotics? 1) don’t harm humans or allow them to come to harm through inaction 2) Do as humans say 3) Look after yourself but not at the expense of the other two laws No idea what that looks like in practice, mind…
