PhD student Aidan Cosgrove loved our exhibit "Up, Up, and Away: A History of Ballooning" so much that he brought our balloon back to the Narayan Lab! 🎈 He complimented the quality of the balloons and their capacity to hold the gases he works with in his research. 🥼 @umlifesciences.bsky.social

Ballooning, as dangerous as it was, became a crowd pleaser following the Civil War. Many daring aeronauts accepted the risk and offered performances at fairs across the country. Performers offered acts varying from trapeze performances to concurrent parachute jumps by man, woman, and even dog!

Last night, on the 250th anniversary of the drafted Declaration of Independence being presented to the Continental Congress, community members performed the final draft of the Declaration live for attendees of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival.
