Eric Ravilious was missing presumed dead #OTD 1942. His widow's headstone at Copford, Essex mentions him: 'In loving memory of Tirzah Swanzy (Eillen Lucy Garwood) 1908 - 1951 and of Eric Ravilious, lost in the Atlantic, 1903-1942, artists. 'Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see.'

Barbara Janik’s father was Flight Sergeant Jozef Janik of No. 305 Polish Bomber Squadron, killed age 28 when his Wellington crashed on a house at Woensel, Netherlands, on 28 August 1942. He is buried in Woensel General Cemetery. 2/3
