SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Owlerton Church War Memorial #Sheffield 01.10.16 The memorial was unveiled in 1925 and the clock in the tower was erected in 1927. Owlerton and Hillsborough are supposedly different suburbs, but the reality of the walked landscape shows there is nothing to separate them.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Lydgate Lane, 23 January 2016 Crosspool Babylon Shack is or was located in one of the highest places for miles around. The mast behind the building can be seen from trains as they approach #Sheffield city centre after passing through Meadowhall.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Ebenezer Chapel, Shalesmoor #Sheffield 09.12.08 It's been transformed into one of these temples for modern living that are all the rage these days. It's just like being in NYC when you're wandering around Kelham Island on your way to the Kelham Island Tavern, innit?

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED The Wellington #Sheffield 08.04.10 Although I saw a ghost in Uxbridge, I don't believe in ghosts, but this room is haunted (this corner of the room in particular) and so is the room to the left as you go into the Fat Cat. And don't get me started on the Old Queen's Head...

According to the squares at Time Out & a host of unattractive petit-bourgeois positivity tyrants, Crookes is the 6th coolest neighbourhood in the UK. As the Koolest Kid in Crookes for the past 39 years running, I say that Crookes is the koolest neighbourhood in Crookes. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Crookes named sixth coolest UK neighbourhood by Time Out magazine

Crookes is branded the country's sixth coolest suburb by Time Out magazine.

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Brown Street #Sheffield 31.05.12 The wall of the Rutland Arms. The work of the renowned street artist Phlegm, a resident of Sheffield, born in North Wales. I take it as a comment on the place of the individual and the futility of labour in the society of the spectacle.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Park & Arbourthorne Social Club #Sheffield 01.10.16 A horrible sight on a horrible road in a horrible place, but it was never the intention of the people that built the club or the road or the place that this should be so. It’s a sign of disdain for deprived communities.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED South Road, Walkley #Sheffield 25.03.12 From 'The Sons of Amos Brearley' (2007): "Two police officers are approaching the Primitive Methodist Church on horseback. Furtive youth gangs scatter. The common people are talking about laminate flooring and preparing for Christmas."

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Netherthorpe #Sheffield 15.03.17 I don’t know how many dwellings can be found on each of the twelve floors of these Lego like tower blocks. It looks like there should be four flats per floor, but I’m sure that the council wouldn’t have been that generous in allocating space.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Sharrow Cemetery #Sheffield 16.05.04 Twilight... nightfall approaching... no-one around... The stupid star is an empty gesture, and the ridiculous symbols scattered about the outer circle are merely confirmation of the designer’s deep rooted halfwittery.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Marlborough Road #Sheffield 25.09.04 An act of violence presented as a work of art by someone who has no love for art. It’s fundamentally derivative, a meaningless gesture presented as an act of rebellion. Seen in a van parked outside the former home of Adela Pankhurst.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH FROM THE RUINS OF SOCIETY Nairn Street #Sheffield 27.11.08 The end of a terrace of three storey houses that curve in a rightward tending arch down to St. Thomas Crookes, the birthplace of the evangelical Christian movement or abomination known as the Nine O’ Clock Service, or NOS.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Bowcroft Cemetery, Stannington, 25 September 2004 Memorial stone of George Shaw, a Quaker who died at the age of 74 in 1708. Bowcroft Cemetery is a small Quaker burial ground situated just off Riggs High Road in Stannington on the outskirts of #Sheffield

Bild

‘Job Rebuked by His Friends’ links the supposed friends of Job to Satan by virtue of their function... In the landscape beyond the three supposed friends there are three standing stones, identifying those who are concerned with the things of the earth with petrification.

Bild

SELECTED TRASH REVISITED Lodge Moor Bus Terminus #Sheffield 08.09.12 The pattern formed by countless buses setting off on their journeys reminds me of the rings of Saturn, surrounding the island-planet of grass & wildflowers that has probably reached its greatest height, following the end of summer.
