PEF's Statewide Officers and Staff attended a pair of events on Tuesday in advance of the New York State AFL-CIO COPE Convention -- one organized by the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee and another hosted by Republican members of the State Assembly.
The @nysaflcio.bsky.social COPE Convention takes place today in Albany, with PEF well represented. President Spence and the rest of the delegates will debate and vote on endorsements in federal and NYS races as organized labor leverages its political power for the November midterms and beyond.

Members of the PEF Statewide Women's Committee, led by Chair Michele Rosello, attended a BBQ yesterday on Randalls Island with women who work in unionized trades -- plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and steelworkers, to name just a few. Solidarity!
Summer is drawing to a close and PEF has been busy -- from touring the state to present the PS&T Tentative Agreement, being active in the labor movement at the 2026 AFT Convention, asking tough questions about NYHELPS, and bringing to life the American Revolution on America’s 250th anniversary.
PEF VP Bruce Giddings & R8 8 Coordinator Danielle Bridger attended an event announcing a bridge on Route 2 in Petersburg (Rensselaer County) will soon be named in honor of @nysdot-nyc.bsky.social Highway Maintenance Supervisor Robert Bornt, who was killed in a work zone crash in May 2025.
PEF was proud to sponsor the annual fundraiser for the Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association Wednesday night in New York City. Thanks to all the peace officers of BTOBA who patrol and secure the bridges and tunnels New Yorkers use every day!

Region 2 welcomed 22 stewards for a day of training. Thx to VP Randi DiAntonio, Org Coordinator Libby Militello, Field Reps Ellen Coyne and Dan Manning, and H&S Specialist Annamarie Malik for sharing knowledge. Mostly -- thank you to the Stewards who came to learn how to best serve fellow members!
PEF Region 7 Coordinator Barbara Stransky dropped her PS&T Contract Ratification ballot in the mail this week -- be sure to make your vote count, too! Ballots are due Aug. 17 by 5 p.m. at AAA in New York City. If you don't have yours or need a replacement, call them at (800) 529-5218.
On Tues, State Sen. Monica Martinez met with members at Pilgrim PC on Long Island. We appreciate her taking the time to listen directly to healthcare professionals about the challenges they face -- like workplace violence, chronic short staffing, and what's required to improve working conditions.

🚧 Big win for DOT members! Thanks to this tentative agreement, members who work hard to keep New York's roads and highways safe will see their SAD Pay increase from $750 to $1000. That's real recognition for the dedicated workers who put their safety on the line every day to keep New Yorkers moving.

The day's first Region 9 Contract Meeting is wrapping up at the PEF Office in Poughkeepsie! Thanks to everyone for coming out to ask questions and get information about the Contract Vote! Ballots are on their way in the mail.
Thanks to the members from multiple agencies who showed up tonight at the Harlem State Office Building to hear about the proposed PS&T Contract. Bright yellow ballots were mailed 7/8 from NYC and should arrive at your home address soon. All Contract-related docs @ www.pef.org/contract.

Going on now! We're meeting with members at Roswell Park in Buffalo to answer Q's, discuss the tentative agreement, & provide the information needed to make an informed vote. Later this evening we'll wrap up the day with another session at the PEF Regional Office beginning at 6:30pm.
