Owah!

It's the moment you've been waiting for, here's the top 10 fastest racers on each track in our time trial playtest! Well done to everyone that made it to the top, and an extra congrats to Klorel and Camjo-Z, who've won themselves copies of Yooka-Replaylee! 🏆

When I first heard about it I assumed Banjo-Kazooie on the Super Pocket was going to be a quick 'n dirty cash-in but this thing is actually legit. Playing Banjo on a little handheld at 60 FPS (!!!) with surprisingly decent controls is crazy. They even changed the Game Boy on the file select!

The file select menu for Banjo-Kazooie running on a Super Pocket. In the original game Banjo was playing a Game Boy, but here he is playing the very same device that the game is currently running on, potentially creating a paradox in which infinite versions of himself are controlling each other.

The 2025 Top 10 GOTY list is finally here! This year had a crazy amount of good games, to the point where there were some contenders I barely touched (Absolum) or didn't even get around to buying (Dragon Quest 1+2). OH WELL! Onto the winners:

I love ChuChu Rocket but it gets basically no merch and the only plushes they ever had were an ultra rare Japan-only set from 2000... until now! LRG finally did something right for once, so now at long last I have my most wanted plushes of all time. No cap...ukapu.

A plush of a ChuChu and a KapuKapu next to a copy of ChuChu Rocket for the Dreamcast.

currently doing a replay of all the kingdom hearts games every time i say re:chain of memories is mid someone goes "you don't understand, the card system is so deep and interesting, you simply haven't wrapped your mind around it bro" and then i play the game and every fight is just this

Mario Kart World is great and all but improved performance on Switch 1 games has been the true selling point of Switch 2 for me so far. Hyrule Warriors is one of my favorite games of all time and getting to play it at 1080p 60 FPS in handheld mode makes it feel brand new.

130 hours in Hyrule Warriors DE... SO FAR...

Sega: OK guys we're doing a Sonic 3 tie-in for Sonic Rumble and we need some music for the Shadow boss fight. Nothing too crazy, it's just a mobile game after all Sega Sound Team: You got it fam The song:

There were a lot of games at the Nintendo Direct today but only one that TRULY mattered. I'll give you a hint, it starts with T and ends with chi... that's right, you guessed it: TAMAGOTCHI PLAZA

wrath of cortex may not hold up too well today but you have to admit it's crazy how it accurately predicted what elon's first words upon meeting trump would be

i love how 99% of roblox games are horrible glorified slot machines and then the other 1% is some dev getting hired to make a cheap licensed tie-in and using it as an excuse to create the most lovingly crafted clone of your favorite janky 2000s platformer

i have never played a kart racer and thought "damn i wish the transitions between laps were sick as hell" but sonic racing crossworlds had me covered anyway

Just got done running the Morino Tamagotchi - a relatively low-maintenance device with a cute insect theme, but arguably the least interesting Tamagotchi to look at due to its gimmick of zooming out the screen after 10 seconds of inactivity to show your bug at "actual size" (aka a tiny dot).

A white shell Mori de Hakken! Tamagotchi, with Minotchi displayed onscreen.Your Tamagotchi seen at "actual size" as they skitter around between two trees (although in this case, Minotchi simply stays motionless in the middle of the screen due to being a bagworm).

Saw #Sonic3 last night and I'm still reeling from how good it was. I loved the first two movies but there was always an element of "it's not perfect but it's what we've got", this on the other hand was near perfect. The entire third act is probably the most hype thing I've ever seen in a theater.

The movie's poster in which Sonic and Shadow are running down a building while shattering the glass windows.

With all the major releases finally out of the way, it's time for my 2024 Top 10 GOTY list! This time, I decided to include a handful of honorable mentions for games that I wanted to include but couldn't quite make the cut for various reasons. Without further ado:

Disney Music Parade Encore is a great comfort game. There's just something very relaxing about playing through a jazzy little song while your train goes riding through a sparkly wonderland.

Really enjoying a fresh save file in Pocket Camp Complete. Gacha game conversions can sometimes have trouble making their economy work once there's no real money involved (looking at you Mega Man X Dive Offline) but they struck a good balance here with the Leaf Tokens.

My Animal Crossing Pocket Camp character striking a pose.

By far the best Android controller I've ever used, I highly recommend it. Great ergonomics, works even with a case on the phone, and the USB connector can tilt so it won't mess up your charging port. I've destroyed so many touchscreen peasants in Sonic Rumble with this thing.

I love when I get to go back to one of my older compositions and see how I would do it differently, like when I was asked last year to do a remix of this old song from a Wii U game I composed for back in 2016. It's so different you almost can't tell it's a remix.
