If like me you spend far too much time observing the slow moving car crash that is the Trump presidency, you'll keep seeing 'Communist' being used repeatedly as an attack line from the idiots who enabled Trump. I'm not in the slightest convinced it'll hold back the wave that will hit them.

Working on a piece for the newsletter, this is a data point - smart people keep shrugging and saying “communities don’t like data centers because of ‘vibes’” etc when it’s really that people are in fact smart enough to know they are bad faith neighbors. It is *entirely rational* not to trust them.

A $19.2B AI data center planned for Edgecombe County, NC has been pulled after local opposition over water and power strain, one of the largest data center projects yet killed by community pushback.
I don't have a solution for the water problem, but the power is easy. Demand that every data center be all electric and have enough solar panels to run itself. They can afford it and it will save them money in the long wrong run.
