"These insults have been in disuse for ages. You are lucky there's few people that could understand them, or you'd be in a pickle." He put him down once they reached the street, though, no need to drag the act longer than needed. He even smoothed the few wrinkles he left on his robe. Β»
Red eyes go wide, a flush of embarrassment dusting his ears. The fight seems to leave him as heβs caught, head turning away from the other. ββ¦ I can say what I wish. I am not some wayward child.β
The scribe replied in an equally old desert dialect, shaking his head. "ΪΩ Ψ―ΩΨ§Ω Ϊ©Ψ«ΫΩΫ. Who taught you to say all that?"
So much for maintaining politeness. A string of curses in a language older than the chair heβs been deprived of runs free from his lips. βSurely there are better ways to approach this than abduction?? ββ
THE AUDACITY. Walks back really fast and forcefully takes him under his arm, frowning. Yes he has the strength. No he doesn't care if people are watching. "Just... come out, will youβ"
β¦β¦β¦. Nope. Not entertaining that. Pulling a second notebook from his coat, resuming without so much as a glance over his shoulder.
He's not listeninnnngggg walking away with his papers... right to the exit doors!!
Irritation flickers as he rises from his seat, hands planted atop the table. There. Standing. Happy? βIβm not a child. You donβt need to micromanage me.β
Not a problem. He takes his papers instead. "Not really. I just want you to move that butt. It's not healthy to sit for so long." Says the ultimate sitter-
Emboldened by the offense that cuts through him, Zandik swipes for the stolen book. βThat wonβt help me sleep, if thatβs your concernββ Tempting as the coffee is, heβs stubborn. Grumpy. And determined to finish his current work.
"No." He quickly replied, taking one of his books away. "We are going to get coffee." 'we' as in 'them'. The two of them. Non negotiable.
Lying has never been his strong suit. Even with βpracticeβ (though he dreads to call it that), he remains terrible at spinning tales on the spot. Zandik huffs, picking up his pen to tap-tap-tap it against the table. βIβm not attempting to sleep right nowβ¦ Canβt I finish this first?β
"Sure. Like yesterday, for example. Having to wake you up before you'd get locked inside the House of the Daena the whole night..." Pokes back his fluffy hair. "Don't you have somewhere to sleep?"
A pout, fingers inching back towards what he was doing. βI am well aware of my limitationsβ¦β
"A horrible one." He nods, still holding the plate with the pyramisu. "go on. Blow the candle. My arm is getting sore."
" Are you saying you're a bad singer ? " He chuckled in amusement. He was still surprised that Alhaitham had remembered with everything going on. It was a pleasant surprise though. He was happy, for once.
"Sure, if you want it to start raining and making our collapsed roof look way more catastrophic." He affords to joke, since they are still waiting for it to get fixed. There's no malice in his words at all. Alhaitham forces a smile. πππ πΎππ£ππ©.α£ πΌ'π π ππππππ. πΌπ‘'π π ππππ. πππππ π π‘πππ ππ‘ ππ π ππππ.
" Oh. " He'd almost forgotten it was his birthday. But Alhaitham had remembered. Kaveh's cheeks flushed bright red and he finally smiled. " A wish first. " he beamed, tapping his chin. " Are you going to sing too ? " he teased.
"Happy birthday. It's a pyramisu." He sticks a candle on it and lights it.
" Is that a Tiramisu ? " He's already drooling.
He's got everything calculated.

You can't win against him........
Could be because it's not necessarily his moment to pick after himself. It's a strange concept. A vibe, of sorts. If I don't feel like it, I won't clean it up. But... that doesn't necessarily mean I won't do it. I'll do it. Just... not right now.
Oh, he has plenty of opportunities when Kaveh is out. And even if he didn't, Alhaitham could offer to do it himself while Kaveh is tidying up. But does he ever offer ? No. Hmph.
The point is: he never lets him pick up after himself because he has already done it. It's about not having opportunities.
He hates it when the house is messy. And since Alhaitham doesn't pick up after himself, someone else has to do it. Grumble, grumble.

Alhaitham is a bit of an asshole, sometimes. Like just now. He was completely miserable, hating every second spent sitting outside, watching over the food and the seating space. Now he just dragged another person into that same misery, just to keep himself in adequate company. What an asshat. Β»
"βThey?β" Oh, Archonsβ¦ was he being dragged to some odd potluck? A grimace spreads before he can catch himself, but he plays along all the same. Sighing, he takes the spot beside the other, hands settling in his lap. Ugh. "Iβm not very hungry. Waiting isnβt an issue, reallyβ¦β
"Come on, nobody will notice if there's a bit less in the pot. Our friends bring each a dish of their own so there's always leftovers." Funnily enough, he was alone at the table at the moment. "They'll take a while. Sit. Eat something, please." Pats the empty seat beside him.
The momentary eye contact makes his skin crawl, avoidant gaze trailing to the documents. β¦ When was the last time he ate? He hadnβt thought about it in some time, but he didnβt π§π¦π¦π hungry. "Ah, I wouldnβt want to intrudeβ I can get something down at the marketsβ¦ But thank you."
"Kaveh made it. Says it's his mother's recipe. Nothing much I can do to stop him once he's started." Alhaitham's eyes stop for a few seconds on the boy's, then blinks and gazes away, back to the document he's redacting. "Of course I didn't think you died. Welcome back."
"β¦ You thought I died?" Says the boy who disappeared forβ¦ a while. But in his defenseβa round trip to the nationβs edge is difficult! Staring down the other, a small crease in his brow. βI thought you didnβt like stewβ¦β
